see all reviewsI love Brando at SoulCycle Back Bay! He keeps me coming back to Soul. He’s full of energy and a great leader — it’s easy to follow his instructions while feeling welcome at all levels in his classes. He’s also just hilarious so I laugh all class and really enjoy the workout. He encourages us to cheer on our neighbors and embrace the energy we’ve created in the room. I love his enthusiasm for his themed classes and I’m already signed up for his next one!

see all reviewsLooking for a slice of zen in Boston's concrete jungle? CorePower Yoga's Kingston Street location delivers the goods, and then some. I lucked into a C2 gentle heated flow class with Jamee Hourani that turned out to be the highlight of my day, though admittedly the shower products in the men's locker room gave that zen moment some serious competition. Jamee's teaching style is that rare mix of precision and personality that makes you forget you're essentially doing fancy stretches alongside strangers. Her cues were clearer than a fortune 500 company's quarterly earnings report (fitting, given we're in the Financial District), and her warm presence made even the most pretzel-like poses feel approachable. From warriors one through three to chaturangas, she guided us through a sequence that somehow managed to be both challenging and accessible, no small feat when you're trying to make side planks and camel poses feel less like medieval torture devices. The studio itself is a pinterest-worthy space bathed in natural light, with enough modern amenities to make a luxury hotel blush. The men's locker room feels more spa retreat than gym facility, complete with premium shower products that might make you "forget" your own toiletries at home next time. They've thought of everything: complimentary blocks and straps for class, rental mats and towels for the unprepared or ultra-light travelers, and LED lighting that sets the mood without making you feel like you're in a nightclub at 2 PM. At 18 Kingston Street, they've managed to create a venue that doesn't take itself too seriously while taking your practice very seriously indeed. The hardwood floors are pristine, the climate control is on point (because nobody aside from a certain cult leader wants warm yoga to become scorching yoga), and the overall vibe strikes that perfect balance between "namaste" and "hey, we're all in this together." Between Jamee's expert guidance, the top-notch facilities, and an atmosphere that makes you forget about the chaos of second tier downtown Boston waiting outside, CorePower Yoga has nailed the formula for group fitness. Just don't blame me if you get addicted to those fancy shower products.

see all reviewsIn the heart of Back Bay, where Boylston Street's historic brownstones meet contemporary bustle, Boston Yoga Union has mastered what many urban yoga studios attempt but few achieve: authentic serenity without pretense. Ascending to the second floor at 364 Boylston, you're greeted by a sight that could make any design enthusiast's heart sing, paper lanterns float like luminous jellyfish above gleaming hardwood floors, while floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with that coveted Boston natural light. The studio's crown jewel, their Vinyasa Flow class, strikes that elusive balance between accessibility and challenge that keeps both nascent yogis and seasoned practitioners coming back (as evidenced by their impressive 4.8/5 rating from over 500 reviews). Think less "Instagram-perfect poses" and more "actually perfect alignment" – their teachers seem to have earned PhDs in the art of clear cueing and intelligent sequencing. For the urban professional seeking sanctuary, the amenities hit all the right notes: full changing rooms with showers (goodbye, lunchtime workout anxiety), complimentary props (because who actually owns their own blocks?), and a water bottle filling station that saves both your wallet and the planet. The retail section, featuring their signature lotus logo on everything from crops to hoodies, might test your post-yoga non-attachment principles. What sets this studio apart isn't just the pristine facilities or the expertly guided asanas, it's their refreshingly modern approach to traditional yoga values. They welcome ClassPass wanderers while nurturing a devoted community, offer virtual classes for the hybrid-working masses, and maintain two locations (their sister studio in Brookline's Coolidge Corner) without losing their boutique soul. Their new student special ($49 for three weeks unlimited) feels less like a marketing ploy and more like a genuine invitation to join their community. And speaking of community, the studio manages to maintain that coveted "everybody knows your name" vibe while avoiding the cliquishness that can plague urban yoga spaces. Sure, parking in Back Bay requires either zen-like patience or public transportation wisdom, but that's part of the authentic Boston experience, isn't it? Whether you're a local looking for a yoga home or a visitor seeking refuge from conference calls, Boston Yoga Union offers that rare trifecta: sophisticated without being stuffy, challenging without being competitive, and welcoming without losing its edge. Pro tip: Don't skip savasana – their carefully timed cool-down under those dreamy paper lanterns might just be the best five minutes of your day. (Open daily at 364 Boylston Street, Back Bay, Boston.
