About this studio

Yogi Step is a yoga studio nestled in KL led by Michelle Yap. Michelle's main goal is to guide you on a journey towards balance. She has received a certificate for Teacher Training course in Hatha Yoga, encompassing physical and energy body anatomy, the sacred scriptures, the art of alignment, the way of adjusting others and art of breath at Manasa Yoga. In Year 2015, she decided to embark on a journey to become a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher after receiving numerous requests to help students with body postures problem caused by poor awareness during daily life. After two years of diligent study and hard work, she is now a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher under the tutelage of Nandaji Kumar.

How to prepare

Please wear comfortable yoga or exercise clothes. Wearing slightly form-fitting clothing is advised so that the instructor may provide alignment cues and corrections.

The instructor really spends time to help every member adjust the postures. She motivates and makes you feel you want to push more efforte

Michelle guides a proper technique for each pose but sometimes I could feel disengage with her instruction. Class environment could be improved - windows were opened and you hear noises from the street.

Instructor seemed very stern n intimidating initially. Luckily she smiled n laffed later during the class otherwise the environment wud b so stif n not relaxing at all.. Very diff type of yoga class too where basic poses r held for very long with the help of props/equipments to get the alignments right. There r oso chanting at the beginning n end of the class The noise fr the street downstairs n the fans can get abit too noisy at times n there’s no clear visible sign showing where the studio is fr downstairs. No shower facility too

Pranayama/Restorative
Medium sized class with all necessary props, instructor is clear and goes around assisting students with alignment which is much appreciated. A bit of discomfort during the stretches but muscles feels much better after.

Feels like torture but only coz Michelle wants u to get it right. Feels great after tho, super stretched out n activated

Michelle is a bit strict but in a good way. The movements are simple but really work your muscle especially your shoulder. Loved it. Suitable for beginners who’ve never done any yoga before.
