About this studio

Iyengar Yoga classes on the Upper East Side. Iyengar Yoga is a classical method developed by Yoga Charia B.K.S. Iyengar in Pune India over the course of more than 75 years. We begin with learning the art and science of asanas, or yoga postures. The method is orderly and progressive, and the asanas (postures) are adjusted to meet the physical conditions and needs of each student using yoga props as needed. Norma Colón's extensive experience and training will help you feel robust in body and mind. Norma's approach to teaching is both rigorous and nurturing. The classes are small, in an intimate, immaculate studio. Norma provides mats as well as all the necessary yoga props. You will leave the class feeling light, tall, and serene.

Iyengar Yoga, Level 1
Norma is very knowledgeable and will adjust you to be in the correct position. She is great for a yoga newbie like me!
Iyengar Yoga (General Level)
Pretty good class. I found the class somewhat challenging and left me feeling relaxed. I think I've been to better Iyengar classes though.
Iyengar Yoga Level I/II
Can never go wrong with Norma.
Iyengar Yoga Level I/II
Loved Norma's class, very thorough class, she made sure EVERYONE did everything correctly and her humor helped through tough poses.
Iyengar Yoga Level I/II
Great class, feels like a real yoga class. Norma does all the classes and the yoga studio is in PE club. Every month(in iyengar yoga classes), she does different aspects of this yoga I.e- each week will focus on a different aspect. I walked in during the last week of this month so it was the restorative aspect of iyengar yoga. I have to say this was a very different and better restorative class, lots of active poses were done WITH support for longer to really feel the benefits. Can't wait for their standing poses section classes!
Iyengar Yoga (General Level)
This was the nicest iyengar teacher I've ever met. Very restorative class.
Iyengar Yoga Level I/II
Great attentiveness by the teacher and good to increase your flexibility. Not enough movement or exercise for someone under 30 I think so 4/5 stars.
Response from the studio:
thanks for the feedback. I'm pretty sure this person came to an end of month restorative class. Otherwise, level I/II classes are quite rigorous, challenging, and gratifying for young or older students.
