About this studio

Class Programming: Overall, the Urban Athlete weekly program is divided into three modalities: Strength, Conditioning, and Hybrid. — Strength classes (Mondays/Thursdays) focus on getting stronger and building muscle. You'll perform squats, deadlifts, overhead presses, plus a variety of bodyweight exercises. — Conditioning works the 3 energy systems (ATP/CP, Glycolytic, Oxidative). From speed ladders, kettlebell swings, and jump rope, you'll be sweating at the end of this class. — Hybrid combines both Strength and Conditioning into a comprehensive, butt-kicking workout. The gym is located at the Kew Gardens Apartments; the entrance is on 27th Street between P and Q.

How to prepare

Shows — Wear athletic sneakers. You can not workout barefoot. Towels — UAC provides both workout and shower towels. Our shower is fully stocked with soap and shampoo. Water — Bring a water bottle; there is a filtered water station. If you are NEW to fitness, we suggest you schedule an intro training session with one of our trainers to help you keep up the demands of this fast-paced class.

The conditioning class was fine, but it was nothing I couldn't do on my own-- there were outdoor runs, body weight squats, push-ups, etc. I would love to see circuits that teach me new exercises and/or use equipment I don't have at home.

Thanks for the feedback. Bruce Lee's quote might be appropriate here : "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." So I ask: are your pushups perfect? Are your pull-ups perfect? Is your sprinting perfect? Sure we can teach cool new tricks, but mastering the basics is most important. Our program is a progressive, comprehensive, daily program that rewards those who attend daily.

What is ClassPass?
