They trust in the foundation of Classical Pilates and everything that the Method has to offer. With instructors that all have a base and root in the Classical Method, they trust and encourage their own voices to come through to give YOU the most unique and tailored workout possible. Uptown Pilates strives to give each client a specialized yet cohesive experience! Their diverse yet Classically based instructors combined with our knowledgeable and personable front desk ensure just that. W H A T T O E X P E C T : T H E E Q U I P M E N T - Yes, they often joke that Pilates equipment looks like a Medieval Torture Chamber BUT do not be intimidated. Those springs and bars are there to help you and to aid in providing the long, lean muscles you are looking for. Always, safety first though! This is why they recommend private sessions but don’t let yourself be scared out of starting your practice. T O S W E A T O R N O T T O S W E A T - Pilates is not an overly cardio workout, especially in the beginning of your practice. The sweat and heat that Pilates stimulates comes from your deep muscles and is very different than superficial workout sweating that you will be accustomed to. Do not fret if you don’t sweat! When it comes to Pilates, this does not mean that you did not work correctly. You are still creating beautiful lean muscles and the sweat will come the more into your practice you venture. U N D E R S T A N D I N G P I L A T E S - Pilates is a whole different beast than many of your usual workouts. It may be different and will work different muscles than you have ever used before. Confused after your first session? Don’t give up! Pilates may take at least three tries before you start to understand what your aiming to accomplish and before you understand just how deep of work you are doing! Pilates is also about an education and your Mind - Body connection. This is taught through discipline and by eliminating distractions. Music can’t get you through this workout, you can only rely on the strength of your own mind.

How to prepare

For your own safety, Uptown Pilates asks that you please DO NOT sign up for class at their studio if you are pregnant. The studio reserves the right to turn you away if you make a reservation for class and you are a pregnant client. Wear comfortable clothing. Please note: Socks are required for all classes. Grip socks are preferred, but regular socks are fine if you do not have grip socks. Grip socks are also sold at the studio!

Great studio - clean and brand new. For an intermediate/advanced class I would have expected it to be more challenging. Trainer was great and very attentive to correcting form and giving cues for each move.

I didn’t like this location. The equipment, although very new, didn’t seem good quality. The instructor was nice but had a hard time explaining the exercises. It was confusing and ended up not being very challenging because I spent most of the time trying to figure out how to do anything she said.

I love this studio! Franceska is awesome! Officially a Pilates concert after this class. Franceska was very conscious of form and helped me make adjustments to get the most out of the exercises. Burn next day is real!!

What is ClassPass?
