About this studio

The Resistance Movement is a new Pilates studio in St. Paul that focuses on functional fitness and incorporates strength, stretch and stamina into every workout. Classes fuse traditional Pilates, yoga, strength training, and dance movements with suspended resistance cords that thoroughly engage your arms, legs and core for a total body experience. The Studio offers classes using the Pilates chair, a mat class, dance conditioning classes and bodyART. These classes are unlike anything you've tried before. This brand new Studio has a fully equipped men's and women's locker room with showers, private changing facilities and amenities. We provide mats, towels, a water fountain and lockers with digilocks.

How to prepare

It is recommended that all clients arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork and get acquainted with the Studio. All clients new to the chair classes must arrive 15 minutes early to receive an orientation or you will not be permitted to attend getSTRONG or getMOVING. Doors lock at the beginning of classes. Grip socks are required for all classes and are for sale at the Studio for $15. Regular socks are not recommended and can make it difficult to complete class. No bare feet.

How to get there

Located at the corner of 7th St. E. and Sibley St. Two blocks from the Union Depot light rail stop and one block away from the Skyway (entrance at Public Kitchen and Bar). On-street parking is widely available (metered). Free parking 6-8am and all day Sundays. Parking is plentiful behind the Studio, so be sure to check!

I love this studio and this class

fun class! focuses on toning muscles. as a dancer I loved the dance aspect this class incorporates. you use resistance bands that hang from the ceiling vs an actually barre, which is a cool way to switch things up. I'll be back!

very well - structured class using the chair Ann's bungees. it was my first time using this equipment and that was intimidating. Trisha noticed I was having a hard time and readjusted my equipment for me which i appreciate. this class is low impact but you are differently strengthening during this class.

a lot of yoga and ballet fusion. light exercise that'll get your heart rate going but for the most part, low intensity. there's music playing but you don't work out to the music- just For background.

What is ClassPass?
