About this studio

Socially conscious, healthy and sustainable; The Bhaktishop is a place to find far more than a sweaty vinyasa flow, a lot of stretching or an "advanced" workout class, but to get an education about yoga and movement theory from some of the most skilled and educated teachers in town. You understand the value of caring for yourself with clarity and skill, and our job is to help you do that in a community that is caring, equitable and safe. We teach lots of strength-based skills, mobility and balance practices, and celebrate accessibility for everyone, including beginners, larger bodies, aging folks, injured bodies, dancers, non-athletes, the inflexible, folks with no "real" yoga pants, and more. With so many class levels and options available, there's a class for everyone. All welcome.

Creative Flow 2/3 with Suniti
This class does not match the description on the website. Pros: adorable studio. Super inclusive (the have an option in their sign up for preferred pronouns!) They have allllll the juicy props - just about everything you could hope for in a studio. Rentable mats for $1 are great manduka brand. The floor in the studio is cork which is kinda cool. Also, they are located next to a delicious bakery. Cons: I think the way this class is described is inaccurate. For something described as a level 2/3 Creative Flow I was expecting heat building flow, creative sequencing and more time for intuitive exploration. I would describe this a Hatha Level 1 class...maybe it differs with each instructor? I never took my sweater off and if I could have, I would have left my socks on too. I like the studio and will try and come back as I visit Portland often but I was very disappointed in what was described vs what was actually led.
Yoga 2 with Britt
Absolutely loved this class, from the music to the flow. I loved her focus on finding a flow that felt good. Definitely will be back!
The Harmony Class with Jeannie
Super nice and welcoming studio !
Functional Strength with Monica
Absolutely loved this class. Great mobility work. Have never had another class quite like it. I’ll definitely be back!
Response from the studio:
Yay! We LOVE Monica and are so happy that you do, too!
Yoga 2 with Kat
Not super advanced, but a lot of subtle body work. Room was super cold and this was not the first time I’ve noticed that here.
Response from the studio:
Thanks for the feedback, we JUST got a new thermostat to address this issue, and are grateful to folks for pointing it out! And yes, out Yoga 2 classes are generally a mid-level class, definitely not advanced. Kat is terrific with the subtle body work, and really shines in teaching the deeper dimensions of the yoga practices. We are glad you appreciate her for that! See you next time.
Creative Flow 2/3 with Shop
Great atmosphere, interesting class..not sure if it was for me. Not much of a challenge, the instructor was a sub tho. Perhaps the regular teacher would’ve been better.
Response from the studio:
Please do come back and try the regular class with the regular teacher and see if its a better fit. The "creative" part of the name allows for the teachers to teach some more kinds of things that may not be "advanced" in the traditional way, and ask different things of the body-mind of the student. Thanks for checking it out, hope to see you again soon.
$8 Yoga 1/2 with Maneena
Soothing and calming. Good stretching
Response from the studio:
Thank you for the kind words, and we hope to see you again soon!
Somatic Movement & Meditation with Suniti
This class was beyond my expectations. It was one of the better meditation/yoga classes I’ve taken. Very introspective and relaxing
Response from the studio:
Thank you for the kind words, we are so glad to hear that this is a practice that is something you enjoyed and benefitted from. Hope to see you again soon!
Functional Strength with Monicka
A truly wonderful class, wasn’t sure what I expected, warm knowledgeable teacher, great class.
Response from the studio:
We also LOVE Monicka, she is secretly a genius. Thank you for the kind words, and hope to see you again soon!
Yoga 1/2 with Kat
Very slow and easy class, definitely level 1 rather than 1/2
Response from the studio:
Hopefully in the holiday madness, a little slowing down was welcome? Thanks for the review and perhaps we will see you again soon!
