About this studio

Currently, they hold their sessions at two locations. The 6 am Monday through Friday and Saturday 9 am sessions are held at the Optimal Health Club 1315 Walnut Street lower level. And the 6 pm Monday through Thursday evening sessions are held outside on the Jefferson Hospital campus, between 10th and 11th on Locust Street. They use a variety of equipment ranging from kettlebells, TRX, free weight, body weight and more. The sessions are very intense. They recommend if you have neck, shoulder, back, hip, knee or other join related issues, to avoid these classes, as the intense training could cause further injury.

How to prepare

When attending training sessions with them. Please arrive about 15 minutes early to be sure to have plenty of time to change and begin training on time. If you have specific injuries (neck, back, shoulders, wrist, knees) or join related issues, They advise you not attend, as the intense training methods may cause further injury increasing your chances of great damage. They recommending you bring your own towel, mat, and extra water.

How to get there

They are located inside the Optimal Fitness Health Club 1315 Walnut Street (Juniper Street) lower level. They are not a part of Optimal and you will not be permitted to use the gym outside of classes with the Sgt. Nate Fitness team. You can use the locker rooms to store your gear and change for training. Once inside, you will enter the group fitness studio directly behind the front desk. However, their evening Outdoor Ranger Training Workout is held outside on The Jefferson Hospital Campus, on Locust Street between 10th and 11th.

I think this is my favorite workout in Philly! Tough but efficient - I feel so much stronger than before I started this class. I can even do real push-ups now!
TABATA with Sgt.
Fun yet challenging workout as usual. Sgt. Nate clearly cares about each member of his class (both regulars & Classpass drop-ins) and makes sure he adjusts each move to any individuals needs/injuries. With that said, definitely an ass-buster even with simple moves like jump squats & mountain climbers.

Super simple exercises but the intensity & high number of reps made this super challenging. As always, Sgt Nate is encouraging & stern, highly recommend.

Not a challenging workout and very disappointed I used a pass for this class. Similar to a workout DVD - just Sgt narrating basic moves in the studio space of a gym and occasionally harassing class regulars. No form corrections, very little equipment use (a lightweight dumbbell), and low intensity. Almost felt like gym class. Facilities were not sanitary and cleaning weights and mats was not encouraged/supplies unavailable. There were unpleasant stains on my mat. Recently changed locations without updating maps, emails, etc.

This is such a great class! Tough workout. Sgt. Nate is tough but motivating. Will definitely be back!

Great, challenging class! Basic moves like burpees & kettlebell swings, but the intensity and focus on form makes sure you work up a sweat. Sgt Nate was incredibly kind, encouraging, and fun! Highly recommend for a kick-ass & sweaty class to start your day.
