About this studio

Clarice O'Reilly-Cummins is a physical therapist with nearly thirty years of experience. She spent about twenty years in the neurological field, but always had her foot in the door of orthopedics and sports medicine. About seven years ago, she began working mainly in the orthopedic sports medicine field in a private clinic in Oakland. This extensive background has allowed her to not only learn, but to develop an innate sense about the human body. This includes how it works, how it recovers from injury and best functions with chronic conditions. This knowledge in combination with a lifetime participation in sports including swimming, spinning, running, golfing and Irish step dancing are what has driven her to start teaching her core fitness classes.

Know Your Core—Work Your Core
The class was very useful in helping me understand my core a lot better. I have chronic lower back pain and have a hard time isolating and strengthening it using traditional methods. Clarice helped to correct my form where my lower back wouldn’t be exacerbated and was very attentive to each person in this class. She also took the time to show me the correct form on how I should perform a plank which would actually target my core without hurting anything else. This is a slower class designed to be more technical so don’t expect to “work up a sweat.” Instead take it as the learning opportunity it is for healthier activation of core muscles, stretching, and foam rolling.
