About this studio

Lift is where muscle meets mindfulness. Lift offers yoga classes for all levels of practitioners along with our specialty "Lift" classes which combines cardiovascular conditioning and strength training. Their location, an old re-purposed church, is a unique and tranquil space where the magic happens. Come ready to sweat, stretch, and build community. 873-3296

How to prepare

Try to arrive to class 15 minutes early, especially if it is your first time visiting the studio. Arriving early to class will enable you to get settled in and tour the studio prior to beginning class. What should I bring/wear? Restore: Comfortable athletic clothing, yoga mat and water bottle Flow: Comfortable athletic clothing, yoga mat and water bottle Lift: Comfortable athletic clothing, closed toe athletic sneakers, yoga mat and water bottle

How to get there

They are located in the former Primitive Baptist Church that is situated directly in the middle of their block of Madison Street. Traveling east to west on Madison it is on the right hand side of the street and can’t be missed. If you are walking from Calvert Street, they are directly beside the children’s park at the corner of Madison and Calvert. Their block on Madison Street is lined with parking meters that are available for you to use, along with 2 hour parking in the surrounding Mount Vernon neighborhood.

Flow with Maya
Jill was a great instructor. She kept the whole class engaged during the workout session and made us feel like a big team that was accomplishing our individual fitness goals as a collective. Jill was sweet, funny, and pushed me to do my best in that space. She made sure I wasn't short changing myself and continuously checked in to see how i was feeling during my first time. I would highly recommend Jill as a instructor based on her generous nature, strong personality, and much needed pep talks! Thanks Jill and Lynn's Bricks. :)

Im not very fit, and this class was intense, but the instructor was great at creating a scalable workout. I had a lot of difficulty hearing, but that might just be me.

I dont usually give bad reviews on here, and I will give the disclaimer that I went I to class not feeling great, but I did not like this class. I heard the instructor telling someone that he was improvising the sequence, and I dont think it served him very well. He didnt seem confident in what he was guiding us through and the sequence was unorganized.

Liked this class - its a fun mix of yoga warm up/cool down and free weight/body weight circuits. Would have liked clearer cues in the yoga portions, and the downside is you take off/put on shoes a few times. Gorgeous, clean studio space and friendly teachers. Next to a playground so you can sometimes wave to the kids peeking in :)
