How to prepare

Wear comfortable workout clothing and shoes. Bring mat and hand held weights. The studio has some mats and weights to use but quantities are limited.

The instructor is fun! and music was great! But it was mostly just cardio and I was hoping for a harder workout.

Thanks for the feedback! It was so fun having you and your friends in class. You might want to try one of our alternate format classes (e.g., Flip Fusion, Interval Fusion or Strength60) which focuses on more weight work. If you want information on those, please contact me.

This class definitely skewed toward senior citizens. Not fast enough paced and very repetitive.

I was worried it wouldn't be enough of a workout, but I felt it by the end. It was a good balance of strength and aerobic exercises.

The location is hard to find, need better directions on the website. Also students need to bring a mat and weights.

There's no description of Dance Mixx on the Classpass website (it's blank), so I went to the Jazzercise website. Here's how it was described: "This high-intensity dance workout targets the 3 major muscle groupsupper body, abs and legs... Incinerate up to 800 calories in this 60-minute class. With Dance Mixx youll get toned target zones, increased energy and a mood boost..." The reality was that this is a geriatric class held in a community center. I am in my 30s, and was a good 30 years younger than the rest of the room. The class itself was paced as you might expect for that demographic. Don't get me wrong, it's a perfectly good class to bring your grandmother to - I love seeing senior women getting together to get fit! - but not at all as described. I'm skeptical of any class claiming an 800 calorie burn, but in this case it seemed downright delusional.

I'm so sorry that the class didn't meet your expectations. While we do have some older students, we have students of younger ages as well. While it is possible to burn up to 800 calories per class, that is up to you based on your intensity and accuracy of movement. While some students chose to work at a low impact/high intensity level, the instructors always remain at a high impact/high intensity level. It's recommended that to maximize your workout you try to emulate the instructor regardless of what other students may be doing. Jazzercise is truly for everyone - all fitness levels and ages. We encourage everyone to work to the best of their ability and do what's right for their body. We hope you'll give us another chance!

Super fun! Music is upbeat and kicky and dance steps got me sweating! The last part of the class focused on toning, strengthening, and using weights. Great combo of cardio and weight bearing/resistance exercises. Instructor is high energy and encouraging - so helpful to keep me motivated and stepping in time!
