Her classes are always challenging but never intimidating. Avea is a great facility with new, clean equipment (love the cleaning products they use too!) and small class sizes. A mixture of calisthenics, fast paced Pilates floor work, boot camp without the weightlifting “break.” Lots of plank jacks, burpees, flutter kicks, pushups and mountain climbers, with no real pauses. Possibly the most difficult class I’ve ever taken, just for the cardio alone. You won’t miss your spinning class. The only suggestion I could make would be to add an arm sequence, maybe with light weights...but I know that goes against the spirit of “no equipment.” So good!!

This instructor was really clear on her instructions and gave adjustments as needed. This would be a great workout to focus on breathing and strength. see all reviewsI thought I was in shape until this class. I usually work out 3 days a week doing HIIT classes, but this one kicked by butt. Super fast paced class with no breaks.! Expect to do high reps counts of exercises like lunges, squats, deadlifts, rows, tricep extensions etc with weights in hand and cardio bursts of jumping jacks, high knees, burpees, skiers and squat jumps. FYI, no locks for lockers so you have to bring your own or find a place to stash it in the workout studio room. Class size tonight was around 25 people.

Definitely a good workout, but maybe not for someone who’s adjusting to post-quarantine fitness, though! Will be interested in trying other classes at this studio.

And also there’s a ton of variety class to class. And also some of the moves involve balancing which makes them feel more fun and interesting. She was very involved and always adjusting us to make sure we had proper form so we wouldn’t injure ourselves, which I very much appreciated. She did count a lot though, and perhaps this is just my personal preference, but I’m not a huge fan when instructors overcount because then I focus more on the reps than the workout. I just prefer cues into the next set. Other than that, she was great and encouraging and I love how she incorporated a lot of cardio into the workout!

Front desk staff was super nice and helpful, and even cheerful which was extra noticeable bc it was snowstorm and they were right by the door. The locker room lockers require a padlock but there are lockers right outside the locker room with keypad locks. Good array of equipment and everything was clean.

I consider myself advanced in Pilates (been consistently practicing for 3 years, 3-6x wk) and this was tough. I also burned a significant number more calories in this class than traditional Pilates reformer classes. Personally, I’m a purist and enjoy a heavier emphasis on core connection and using your own body weight. I felt like I was never doing anything exactly correctly although I’m sure it gets easier with time. I’ll be back but will be keeping reg Pilates in my routine. That said, Travis was so awesome and motivating and a great teacher for this first timer. Appreciated the kick ass workout. ((By the way, you need a code to get in the door!!! Chk your email!))
