see all reviewsErin is one of, if not the most, challenging P57 instructors, so be prepared for a non-stop class. She packs in more work than anyone, immersing core throughout the entire hour instead of mainly focusing on it at the end. She always finds inventive ways of mastering the flow of class structure - ex: thigh work went from swivel chair R to curtsy lunge R, deli slicer R, round back chair, repeat on left, then waterski. Her class gets me sweaty, burning + is always super intense!

see all reviewsI write this every wk, but Alex is one of the best core fusion instructors (top 5 for sure!), always providing challenging profiles + making the most use of the hour. Prepare for 4 sets of thighs with a glute intermission, both a barre + floor glute set, 2 plank series, then lengthy flat back + round back ab series. He’s incredibly attentive + hands on, all while keeping his cues on point. Wish he trained other instructors Bc they should all be on this level of intensity!

see all reviewsNow that was what a freakin Flywheel class is supposed to be! I've been riding Monday nights at another studio and realized that I'm not only bored during that class but annoyed with the incredibly saccharin music. The motivation that used to get me through is no longer so I decided to cross town to see Ben. His music was fire, instructions on point + he pushed us to our absolute max. My legs may have gone numb toward the end. awesome awesome awesome!

see all reviewsI’ll admit that I was initially pissed that there was a sub without giving us any notification, but Kellie provided an absolutely stellar class with plenty of challenging moves + intensity to fire up the entire body. She did longer thigh sets (which are always appreciated so that we can actually get into the work), and definitely covered more reps than I’ve ever experienced in a Reform class. No time was wasted! Plus, she incorporated a large variety of upper body bungee work throughout, yet another aspect that I adore in instructor’s profile creativity. Kellie is super attentive + hands on, helpful, motivating and constantly adjusted student’s form. Loved her!

see all reviewsAs an avid Pilates, reformer and barre goer I went to this class to check out the studio and didn’t expect much. Mike was fantastic. He has excellent technique, great verbal cues, and is super motivating. The class is all techno which isn’t my favorite but the class is so strong I’ll absolutely be back. Thanks for starting my Tuesday off right Mike.

see all reviewsEric was schedule to teach his regular Tuesday evening class, but Stacy subbed in. She really made up for it, too. Lots of row time - about 5 more minutes more than other classes. see all reviewsStephanie teaches an amazing foundational class. Wonderful flow. Her instructions are precise & clear. Excellent workout. She gives you the significance of the poses & provides modifications. But it would be extremely helpful if front desk staff kept their voices to a minimum while classes are going on. see all reviewsI was the only person in the class for the day, and the instructor was great about correcting my form to make sure I was doing everything properly. It was a great workout and really hard. You will definitely get a great sweat! Each card suit was a different exercise - 2 lower body and 2 upper body. The number on the card was the number of reps. The instructor pulls 4 cards each round, one from each suit. I didn’t make it through the whole deck by myself but I got pretty far.

see all reviewsThis was my first time taking this class and I ended up being the only one this class so I got a lot of personal attention. The instructor was cheerful and very detailed in instructor demonstrating the right and wrong way to do the exercises which I found extremely helpful since I’ve been working through injuries and still fairly new to Pilates. I appreciated her thoroughness and catering her routine to work with me where I’m at. While it wasn’t a sweat inducing workout my flexibility did increase by the end of the class. I would attend again.

see all reviewsGreat class! Julia was very knowledgeable and led us through a well-paced, intentional class that worked my muscles and left me feeling open and like I'd made progress/growth in my yoga. The studio is very simple - not fancy. No showers, and a small changing room. Mats available. I think it's been around for a long time and had a nice community feel. Glad to know about this studio on the UWS.

see all reviewsOne of the best massages I’ve ever had thanks to Claudia’s expert knowledge of physiology and thoughtful efforts to customize and address my problem areas. Really loved her attention to details that elevated the whole experience, like starting with a little aromatherapy by having me breathe deeply as she wafted some spearmint oil by my head and later using an amazing soothing had pillow and eye blind to put me in a deep relaxation cocoon. I walked in all hunched over and tight from stress and walked out feeling taller and lighter and completely chilled out. Super gratitude moment for people like Claudia who put so much into making others feel better!

see all reviewsI enjoyed this class for the specific feedback and targeted exercises - I felt my muscles work in ways I hadn’t in other ballet classes. However, if you are a complete beginner, this isn’t the class for you unless you want to just follow the person in front of you. It’ll help a lot to know the basic positions of the arms and legs, as well as some basic steps or else you’ll probably feel overwhelmed. I will definitely return :)

see all reviewsI’m giving 5 stars because I love the idea of outdoor yoga in the park and want these folks to continue and thrive, but I do have some suggestions for improving the class. First, the teacher should have a sign or some kind of marker to help people locate the class amid the hundreds of people milling around the meeting place. And the class should remain at the meeting place until 5 min before class, rather than walking off at 15 min before class to a remote part of Sheep’s Meadow. I arrived 12 min prior to class and couldn’t find anyone until class actually started and I saw a distant group in downward dog. During class, the teacher was hard to hear and seemed self-conscious about raising her voice over the sounds of the park. During transitions, it would be helpful if the teacher announced the names of the poses first, so experienced yogis can keep to a smooth flow, rather than going into detailed positioning for each limb for beginners and only later stating “warrior 2”.

Hell's Kitchen Tennis Academy
see all reviewsI took a lesson with James today and it was a great lesson and workout! There are no signs or people to direct you to the court, so it was confusing to find. The single court is inside the Manhattan School on the 2nd floor in an enclosed outdoor space. The court also doubles as a basketball court so the tennis court lines are not super visible, but it was totally fine for practicing. The small class size (only 3 ppl) ensured that I got in plenty of hitting and exercise. You should bring a hat, sunscreen, and a full water bottle as there weren't any water fountains nearby.
