    I won't lie, this place is intimidating. I work out but I am far from being in the best shape of my life. I am not one of those girls who shows up in matching activewear. It's a good day for me if I don't show up in an XL men's t-shirt, but even if I do I don't care much. When you walk into Lagree it's a bunch of long, lean beautiful people who hop on the torture machine looking devices and instantly look graceful. I did not. I had a hard time the entire class. That being said, definitely go to this place, even if you're hesitant. Marisa took the time to show me the basics at the start of class and constantly came around to correct my form. I struggled with a lot of moves and she came around to adjust me often but I never felt singled out. She was positive and motivating. You'll shake the whole time but feel amazing after that you did it. Marisa couldn't have done a better job at making it a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

    GASTOWN MEGA 40MIN

    Lagree is hard. Very hard. Muscles shaking until it hurts hard. 40 minutes might not sound long until you're midway through trying not to fall off the reformer. I'm moderately fit and very much so not flexible. However I keep coming back because they feel so rewarding after. I do feel semi uncomfortable during the class because the people that go there seem to all be pros with amazing core strength. Don't be embarrassed to take breaks when you need them though. Now that I've been to a few classes I would say Brooke's are aimed towards an advanced group. She makes every move look simple and her body is unreal but she seems sort of irritated when she has to come by and adjust or help you. But like I said at the start, the class is hard and they expect a lot from you. It's not the most friendly atmosphere compared to other classes but you will see results quickly, even if you can't hold those isometric holds for the entire time.

    The Build

    This studio is unlike any other experience so arrive without preconceived notions. Expect to find a beautiful space, spacious amenities and other luxurious touches. Ariel was welcoming, warm and encouraging, making sure everyone got individual attention throughout class. The dim lighting combined with killer music further elevated the practice. I enjoyed how we were encouraged to not worry about what other people are doing. The exercise itself was equal parts calming and challenging. I look forward to my next class!

    Tara is awesome. She greeted me as soon as I walked in the studio and made me feel really comfortable. She took the time before class to let me know the structure (cardio with air runner, rowing, air bike and jumping rope then trx work) and show all the new people the basics of the trx. She did say the Saturday AM is mostly regulars but throughout the whole time she was really encouraging and hands on and offered variations when needed. Everyone in the class was really nice too. Youll need your own lock for the lockers but there wasnt really a need as she said no one ever comes in through the back. Great workout.

    Great class! Robyn was very thorough in explaining each move and exactly how to achieve it, and helped make necessary adjustments to get the best out of each movement. Also a great class for beginners, or anyone who wants a refreshment on core movements like downward dog. Would recommend! If you bring your own mat, bring your own mat cleaner as well, as I dont believe the studio has any!
