    ARMS, ABS & CARDIO (BOOTCAMP)

First BOOTCAMP experience at Turnstyle and it didn’t disappoint. Class focused on upper body and arms, but included lower body squats and ended with abs. Overall was a great full body workout. Feeling the best kind of sore walking out. Perri was approachable, friendly and offered modifications throughout class. Will be back.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the class! Hard enough but not too hard - the perfect amount of challenging. The instructor was super nice and gave helpful cues during class. She also made a point to learn everyone’s name and give us shoutouts when we needed a cheerleader which was a very sweet and kind touch!

Alanna clearly puts a lot of effort into providing a high quality virtual class... the music, the way she changes angles to demonstrate a pose, offering modifications based on both ability and what people have at home... all well done. a nice mix of work with weights, floor work, and the barre. a bit tough on my knees but that's my issue...

I love Gianna and her yoga classes. When I imagine power yoga, I imagine it moving a little faster, but hers includes a bit more stretching in the beginning, then ramps up in speed, then slows down nicely. She is wonderful with assists and cues as well.

I love EBF but they really need to get it together with their technology. I can’t remember the last class I went to where there wasn’t a problem with the audio or screens. Not Colleen’s fault— she managed through it well. But if a key reason to love EBF is the fact that they are digitally minded, the digital stuff... needs to actually work.

    Kundalini Yoga

So I am ranking this with the full disclosure that I am a novice at Kundalini. I don’t want to mark the studio or instructor off for that though cause that’s on me. As someone who enjoys yoga and a yin and meditation and self care (but does not practice regularly in any these) this was odd for me. The instructor was reading off her iPad the entire time and did not seem like she knew what was coming next or how to prepare for the class the breathing or the next move. It was super chunky like no flow and honestly a lot of the moves of breathing and jumping around (basically yoga burpees at one point) was a bit jarring. That all being said - again never having practiced kundalini before - the mantras, the chanting and the focus on self healing and restoration was great. I think I need to do some research and come back to it.

Jess was subbing in for Gabi. I've never taken this class before so I don't know what it's normally like, but I loved it! Definitely not traditional pilates, but I had fun (amazingly) while also getting my butt kicked. Great class/instructor for someone newer to classes or out of shape, but also good for more advanced participants; it is what you make it.

Very different from any other class I've taken (and I've taken many). This is not an exercise class; you won't work up a sweat. It's more like a mix between slow yoga and meditation, with an emphasis on correct alignment/posture.
