    EXCEED: The Workout

Brewer is hands down one of the top HIIT profile creators in the city. Do not even bother coming to his class unless you're ready to work your tush off, sweat buckets + be challenged in a whole new manner. His 'warmups' are usually a 20 min white board run down of various moves such as 10 kb swings + 5 push ups 2x before 500m row, then 4 shoulder taps + 2 push-ups 5x before 400m row etc. Then we'll cover 2 songs worth of lower body work, 'Sally' with goblet squats with over press + 'Faded' using bands for football shuffle + step outs. Ending is a 10min circuit. As an athlete who does Fhitting room, crossfit, brick, barrys + solace, this class is always murder!

Full Body - Lower Focus (60 Minutes)

I was visiting NYC so I’ve never visited this location or taken a class with Casey before. But it was one of the best Barry’s classes I’ve ever taken. Casey’s instructions were very clear and demonstrated each move/exercise. The treadmill workouts were challenging. The floor exercises were lower body focused but we also had some upper body exercises in the mix as well. I highly recommend Casey’s classes to anyone who likes Barry’s Bootcamp.

    Total Body (60 Minutes)

Class kicked my tush tonight, clocking a solid 3.5 miles from the 2, 12 min tread sections + getting a killer pump from the floor work. Only issue is that there weren’t enough 15lb weights for those of us who started on the thread bc the 1st floor group kept full sets under their bench for the transition, so I was forced to lift with 20’s. However, lots of diversity of movements covered - bi curls into squat thrusts, tri pushups + overheads, jump squats, reverse lunges with side bend, one legged deadlifts, one armed chest press with one leg extension, bent over wide + reg rows, renegades, burpees, swings, weighted knee to elbow standing crunch, bear crawls. A tad too core focused during the 2nd section (time that should’ve been spent on lower body IMO) but Mike always provides a challenging class with impeccable directions.

Great class. I liked the instructors guidance and to do what your body allows and not to focus on others, judgement free. Figure 4 Barre (Open)

Lindsey consistently gives a super challenging, burn worthy class with a great variety of movements for all body parts. We covered 4 positions for thighs + at least 8 for glutes. She was not on top of students today as usual though - there were a bunch of lazy, out of shape, hot messes in class who blatantly weren't even trying or just not listening to the cues + she didn't bother pushing them which I thought was weird. But at least I got in a great workout

Dana put together really great sequences for gently opening up the body and stimulating circulation. Really appreciated her encouraging energy and inspiring words at the beginning of class. Front desk could’ve been warmer and more welcoming, but I guess even yogis need a day off from letting their inner light of love shine.

    Pure Barre Classic

While the pure barre method is not as dynamic or challenging as my top choice of barre in NYC, it does provide its own level of intensity due to the small, specific, minute movements (ie lots of pulsing, tucking, up/down an inch, isometric holds) and the multiple sets of core work are always fire. Band usage for standing glutes today targeted the muscle almost immediately, so my hammies are feeling it tonight. And Ava is one of my fave instructors here - clear instruction, attn given to all students, provides feedback. Mid day classes should be far less credits though than prime time. Only 10 students max are in the noon or 1pm’s, so why is this the same credit amount??

Now that was what a freakin Flywheel class is supposed to be! I've been riding Monday nights at another studio and realized that I'm not only bored during that class but annoyed with the incredibly saccharin music. The motivation that used to get me through is no longer so I decided to cross town to see Ben. His music was fire, instructions on point + he pushed us to our absolute max. Great class. Wasn’t a fan the first time I attended his class bc I didn’t sweat enough, but I def sweat a ton today. I wasn’t a fan of the arm workout though. Warm Vinyasa II

This was a great, challenging class. Like all classes I've taken at the studio, there was lots of personalized, hands-on instruction. Overall, he students seemed to have a very high skill level, which may be a bit intimidating for some. I've been practicing yoga regularly but for less than a year (and most of that was prenatal), and I found it slightly over my head, but there were definitely a few others at my level or less experienced and Jai was supportive and able to provide guidance. This seems like the kind of class you could come to regularly and watch yourself grow over time .

Great workout made even more challenging by compressing it into 25 minutes, which meant muscle-burning, back-to-back sets. As a bonus, it was fun working out with a former elite football player. Rob gave the class awesome energy and a nice sense of humor.

Coco was a great instructor-she was motivating and led an upbeat and fun ride. I’m glad I chose to use earplugs. The coffee after class was a nice “perk” me up.

    Yoga- All Level

Mei Sei was great. It was a small class of 4 on a rainy Wednesday night. We spent more time on restorative and relaxed yoga toward the end of the class which was exactly what I needed. She read the room well and offered assistance when I had trouble transitioning between forms. Would definitely recommend her!

    Exhale Barre

Great attentive up beat instructor who looks like shes been doing barre for at least 20 years! Age is just a number. Huge room and lots of people but plenty of space. There was a second instructor helping to demonstrate since the room was an odd L shape. Very small waiting area where people leave shoes. You can buy water. One Bathroom is shared in hall. There are hooks on wall to put your belongings. Towels available.

    Beginner Modern

Sean Scantlebury's class was fun and challenging. He got us dancing and sweating. He did a good job of breaking down his interesting choreography so that it was doable for beginners. I normally dislike floorwork, but he made it palatable and accessible, although some agility was required (inverted movement with partial handstand).

    Pilates for Flexibilty and Posture

This was my first time at the studio which was semi small but clean. The other students seemed to be regulars so I had to ask for occasional assistance on setting up the reformer machines. Masako gave us interesting poses that really allowed for deep stretches which I appreciated. We utilized the machines in different ways with rollers and foam boards. This class enabled me to get a full body stretch and I’d go again.

    Bar Method

I’ve taken other barre classes but this was my first at Bar Method. It was tough! The instructor was really nice and encouraging with lots of hands-on corrections. The only issue I had was that many of the moves were described verbally but not demonstrated, so could be a little confusing for a newbie. Otherwise great.

First time taking reform. Love using the sliders. Some of the positions weren’t as clear what muscle I was working, less of the heavy burn of a regular classic class.
