Elise is amazing! She led us through a creative & intelligent sequence, keeping us well aligned and precise while still allowing us to make decisions for ourselves about how to move on our mats. The instructor is no nonsense and delivers a total body workout. He corrects your form so that you feel the proper muscles and make the most of your time there! I'm glad I went. Upper body lower body core abs even back body was worked. Did not sweat profusely but definitely got my heart rate up

    Slow Flow

There was only a few of us in this class and Marcy made sure to provide a lot of attention. Even though it was a restorative class, I felt sore afterward and my problem areas felt the best they’ve been in a long time. The pace was great and I appreciated how she really took the time to explain different moves and the why behind them, as well as common mistakes (which wow I will adjust in my other classes now). Overall, a wonderful class. The only thing that wasn’t as great was her tone, but only sometimes- she came off as short and like she has little patience with some things.

Loved the class today. My first time taking Brandon’s class. I was hoping for a slow paced class. We started class standing up, which I will say was new for me. He utilized the time well, folding in movements that circulated our focus to every side of the room. The movements were fluid and challenging. I will def take his class again. Thank you for your practice!

    Figure 4 Barre (Open)

She is the best instructor there hands down. Fortunately most the instructors are good. The Class was small today due to a holiday weekend and the energy she possessed was excellent for just five students. She cared about every student their form and making sure it was a hard and challenging class. I always feel like I get my moneys worth and leave feeling like I got an incredible work out. Not to mention this is the nicest bar studio with incredible locker room showers and service.

    Figure 4 Barre (Open)

Not sure if this class was so challenging because I haven’t done barre in ages or if it’s just all around tough. It kicked my butt. (And this is coming from someone who does hardcore boxing and takes reformer/megaflrmer at BodyRok and Solidcore). The instructor’s personality annoyed me (can’t put my finger on why). But she was a phenomenal instructor. Highly recommend and will def be back. We did FULL body toning with a ton of focus on the thighs. The least amount of focus was on abs.IMPORTANT: there are no locks on the lockers. You have to bring your own. Makes no sense but whatever.

Maritza is energetic and energizing, very friendly. She keeps the atmosphere upbeat while paying attention to form and posture. I also liked how she organized the class with a variety of exercises- strength training, then cardio, then stations. I appreciated that there was no pressure to go at a certain pace at each station- everything was set for one minute so that you didn’t feel the pressure of knowing your partner was waiting for you in a plank for example. I’ll definitely be back!

Nice lunchtime flow. Some challenging moves but also not super quick paced. Other reviews mentioned heat—teacher said it was 77 degrees and personally I didn’t find it too hot, I did not break a sweat (which is ideal when I have to go back to work) but also my muscles felt worked and good stretch. Nice music. Tight busy space before and after class so come already in your workout clothes if possible and get ready to wait if you gotta change after

    H.I.I.T. the Deck!

I was the only person in the class for the day, and the instructor was great about correcting my form to make sure I was doing everything properly. It was a great workout and really hard. You will definitely get a great sweat! Each card suit was a different exercise - 2 lower body and 2 upper body. The number on the card was the number of reps. The instructor pulls 4 cards each round, one from each suit. I didn’t make it through the whole deck by myself but I got pretty far.

Deidra is a fantastic teacher. The class is challenging because she is particular at alignment, as she should be - that is part of the point of Iyengar - and sometimes the class gets a little held up because participants don’t understand what she is telling them. Cardio Kick/Strength Build

A hidden gem of a gorgeous, super clean, and well stocked personal training and small group class studio in the heart of Midtown, i.e. in the lower east 50s, where there aren’t nearly enough boutique gyms in my humble opinion. Iman was so kind, generous, knowledgeable and accommodating... challenging me every step of the way, while catering the workout to my needs and current ability level. You will be hard pressed to find personalized workouts like this anywhere else in Manhattan. I left feeling sore (in a good way), sweaty, confident and accomplished. Great to try for any fitness level, especially if you have some kinks in your form/ fitness regimen that you suspected need addressing but weren’t sure how or who to ask.

THE SECRET IS OUT! This yin/restorative class is the best! Cathy goes the extra mile to create a warm and welcoming environment by offering a fantastic experience, incorporating a peaceful soundtrack, live chimes, and thoughtful pairings of essential oils. She provides individualized attention to be sure each student gets what he/she needs out of each pose. The studio is clean, the room is dimly lit (perfect lighting for yoga), and there is air flow which is not hot, as opposed to so many other yoga studios, where the air is hot and stagnant. The staff at BDC is always welcoming and helpful. TEN STARS!

    Hatha Yoga

I’m giving 5 stars because I love the idea of outdoor yoga in the park and want these folks to continue and thrive, but I do have some suggestions for improving the class. First, the teacher should have a sign or some kind of marker to help people locate the class amid the hundreds of people milling around the meeting place. And the class should remain at the meeting place until 5 min before class, rather than walking off at 15 min before class to a remote part of Sheep’s Meadow. I arrived 12 min prior to class and couldn’t find anyone until class actually started and I saw a distant group in downward dog. During class, the teacher was hard to hear and seemed self-conscious about raising her voice over the sounds of the park. During transitions, it would be helpful if the teacher announced the names of the poses first, so experienced yogis can keep to a smooth flow, rather than going into detailed positioning for each limb for beginners and only later stating “warrior 2”.
