    Cyc45: Women of Hip Hop!

Tom was amazing! Very enthusiastic/lots of energy. At some point he was twerking in front of the class. Also introduced himself to the newcomers at the beginning of class. Music choice was awesome!! That goes for the studio as well. I kind of liked that they were mixed in with Tone House and BFX (makes me want to both of them. The facilities were cleans I love how the make the showers along with a lounge chair (plenty of room) so you have space to change and everything. Very happy and I would go back again.

Love this class, but I have to comment on the locker room. Love that they have showers unlike their other locations and Malin and Goetz products. However, there have been a few times now where the products were empty in the showers and I had to wait naked, in a towel, in the coed locker room for them to refill. They also only have one hair dryer. For $20, it would be of significant value add to their clients. Final thing is I'd prefer if they gave out more than one towel. With a coed bathroom especially, where you need to dry off and change immediately after showering, one towel doesn't really do the trick.

Always worried about taking subs + oddly couldn't find many reviews about Erin but she gave us an amazing class! Her thigh section was extremely in depth + covered 7 different positions, adding to her super extended abs hitting all the areas. She moved very fast with transitions which I chalk up to us being able to do more in the given class time. Definitely worth taking!

This is exactly what I needed tonight to take my mind off work stress - a brutally challenging, sweat dripping, curse word inducing, muscle burning class. A 7 min warmup AMRAP followed by a 4 station, 3 exercise, 5 min AMRAP, ending with round 2 of the stations, doing 2 of the 3 exercises for 1 min each all out. The Rep ask for each exercise could've been higher, but all in all, it allowed for continual movement, and multiple round completion (i.e. Row 10 cals; 8 erg knee tucks, 10 DB squat to thrust). Love brick & their ever changing programming!

Coleman was a little snarky today and I kinda loved it. His playlist was really great and the ride really pushed me. This class was great! It was so much better than to the first and only other fly wheel spin class Ive done. Brian is a great instructor. He announced what range we should be at and the speed each time. The other time I went, the woman never said what we should be at and I couldnt hear her well because the music was soooo loud. This was such a better class!

Cameron is great - friendly and helpful with really clear tips and instructions. This was a tough full body workout and my butt was so sore after but in a good way! Still really enjoyed the class.

I was visiting NYC so I’ve never visited this location or taken a class with Casey before. But it was one of the best Barry’s classes I’ve ever taken. Casey’s instructions were very clear and demonstrated each move/exercise. The treadmill workouts were challenging. The floor exercises were lower body focused but we also had some upper body exercises in the mix as well. I highly recommend Casey’s classes to anyone who likes Barry’s Bootcamp.

The ONLY exhale instructor I’ll take anymore, especially now that these classes cost a Whooping 12 credits, and the level of challenge has drastically dropped to almost a basic level, now catered to unfit, out of shape ppl. Prepare to work in his class. Alex is non stop, wasting zero time in the full hour - we covered 4 thigh positions including a glute intermission, then a set of glute work at both the barre + floor, topped off with 2 sets plank work, rather lengthy flat back + round back core sets, adding to the opening arm work that included 14 movements. Awesomely Killer

Excellent coach. Ran a well-rounded, intense but manageable class, and gave patient and effective one-on-one instruction to students throughout. Im a lefty, and should fight southpaw, but rarely do bc boxing instructors always teach traditional style and its hard for me to adjust. But Willie took the time to give me specific southpaw instructions during the more detailed combinations. Also I got a better sweat than I have at a boxing class in a long time. The warm up, the core section, the boxing rounds, they were killer, in a room that I suspect was kept hot on purpose. Not a dry brow in the house! One minor somewhat related complaint. The studio gets a bit stinky of feet and other stuff. A little of the powerful air freshener I’ve noticed at other boutique gyms would go a long way here!

Best barre class I've ever taken. Tony's got great energy and very good at explaining things like "try to take the bounce out of the ball" so I know how to adjust and stabilize my core even more. We only worked with 2 and 3 lb weights but my body was screaming in pain- good pain cause I knew each movement was forcing me to work hard for it. Now that was what a freakin Flywheel class is supposed to be! I've been riding Monday nights at another studio and realized that I'm not only bored during that class but annoyed with the incredibly saccharin music. Dana put together really great sequences for gently opening up the body and stimulating circulation. Really appreciated her encouraging energy and inspiring words at the beginning of class. Also loved that the studio has lots of windows that let in great natural light and found the scent of eucalyptus in the air refreshing. Front desk could’ve been warmer and more welcoming, but I guess even yogis need a day off from letting their inner light of love shine.

    Hot Vinyasa I/II

This was a great class-- there was only one other student today, so we got lots of thoughtful support and guidance from Aby, who was very warm and knowledgeable. (I've found that, in general, the instructors at Five Pillars do more teaching and provide more personalized support than others.) The studio was bright, clean, relaxing, and just the right temperature.

Michael came in and saved the day bc the substitute teacher didn’t show up. Because the class was 15 minutes late, they provided free smoothies for everyone. Loved that! Thanks for providing a great class + experience even with the negative of starting late Michael was awesome

Eric was schedule to teach his regular Tuesday evening class, but Stacy subbed in. She really made up for it, too. Lots of row time - about 5 more minutes more than other classes. Several sets of power, sprints, and then distance for time. I got in great mileage and matched my lowest split, to boot.

Theres not as much instruction / teaching as there normally is but it was still a good workout. First time rowers may need more guidance. The 30s intervals on the tower felt fast but the finisher absolutely destroyed me. Luis cues on breathing and technique helped improve my rowing.

    Total Body HILIIT

After six months of being sedentary, I’m so glad I decided to jump back into wellness with this amazing studio. The space is small so be mindful of that if you are on the toll side but other than that, the class was amazing. Low-key enough for a beginner but challenging enough for a seasoned athlete. The instructor, Kim put me at ease and let us make some modifications and go at our own pace while allowing more experienced students to take on more advanced repetitions. This is a full body workout so come prepared to do Burpee‘s, crunches, lunches, and weights!
