    FLOAT > FLOW

Jen was amazing. I’ve taken a lot of yoga classes and she was funny, engaging, and flows made so much sense. The movements really connected to each other and we spent just a few minutes at the end of class focusing on headstands - so rare to actually learn how to do something more advanced rather than to just be told to do it if it’s in your practice already!

I’ve never done a 90 min hot yoga class before but I wanted to try and I’m glad I tried it here. The heat is distributed evenly and the room is really nice. Wish people would space out their mats so more people could also be comfortable. Instructor was really great and encouraging and also offered corrections. Will definitely be back.

5 stars for the space, smiles and free mats. Lots of emphasis on alignment which is great. However, the flow was so gentle that this should be labeled a beginner class. I wish Sky Ting had some actual vinyasa classes.

So good. Liv has a seemingly endless supply of energy and her coaching style/language is just right. I hadn’t been to the studio in a while and I love the new shower/changing room situation. The one thing I’d say that wasn’t great, is that the music was so loud it was hard to hear some of the cueing, including during the yoga portion, so I’d have to look around and see what other people were doing sometimes to figure out what I was supposed to be doing.

    Katonah Restorative

This was my first time taking Kyle’s class; I’d been reluctant to come because of some of the reviews. I am so glad I came. Kyle imparts tremendous wisdom, he is funny, and he knows what he is doing. More typical restorative and yin are both a regular part of my practice. This is not that: it is more active, “restorative” in the sense of restoring the proper alignment of your body, using the props for support. Some poses felt more like yin poses, with long holds and strong sensation. My quads were burning in a long-held forward fold! Adjustments are considerate, yet can be intense. If you’re looking for a “stillness on props” restorative, this is not that. But it’s equally needed in its own right. If you come with an open mind you will get a lot out of this.

    Candlelit Yin, Restore + Meditate

Jennifer is a lovely instructor and her classes are perfectly sequenced and relaxing. Ishta’s policy to allow latecomers entry to class is so much appreciated (for the record, I apologize, but I was very quiet entering the studio). Only downside was that the room was very muggy and the air was stagnant. Thankfully, Jennifer put the air on for a bit. All studios should have fans blowing, at a minimum, as body and perfume odors hanging in the air in a room with no air flow is just gross.

    Pilates (Mat / Open Level)

Merav gave a great class! It was a good mix of restorative work and Pilates strength training. I went in to class today super sore from kickboxing yesterday, feeling out muscularly out of sorts & as though I couldn’t stand up straight. Her clear instruction & expert sequencing brought me back life! I wouldn’t say she’s Classical Pilates but she’s not strictly contemporary either. Everything she taught made sense, was useful and productive.

    Kundalini Yoga and Meditation

I wish I could rate this class 10 stars if possible. It’s a Kundalini class: so don’t expect a normal yoga class/exercise. Google kundalini yoga if you don’t know what it is: you use breath of fire, positions held in a long time or done over and over again with a mantra— moving stagnant energy. Don’t take this class if you expect it to be a normal yoga class, that’s like booking a spinning class and not knowing you’re on a bike. Highly recommend, Siri is so giving of her time and energy!
