    DASH 28

Matt had awesome music, great energy, and kept it positive. The only thing about the DASH 28 class is that the strength portion is too short to focus on all body sections, they should do different regions on different days of the week or per class to keep it focused.

    Signature II

Brooke is a friggin rockstar of an instructor - by far one of the best at physique, along the lines of Erin Bellis, Ashlea P + Jenn W. She’s absolutely relentless with her profiles, using the most of the hour to get in more sets / reps, with zero time wasted, quick transitions + concise cueing during position setup. Every position flows into the next one seamlessly + theres no way you won’t feel the burn during her class! The 1st section of Thighs alone covered round back chair into incline, to rocking chair, then flat back chair. Killer! Loved how she switched up the normal format and covered round back core work with the band before glutes. Wish I could take her more often. Newer instructors + those who teach a less intense Sig II desperately need to learn from her.

    #HipHopWednesdays WeFlowHard Vinyasa Yoga

Love this class, but I have to comment on the locker room. Love that they have showers unlike their other locations and Malin and Goetz products. However, there have been a few times now where the products were empty in the showers and I had to wait naked, in a towel, in the coed locker room for them to refill. They also only have one hair dryer. For $20, it would be of significant value add to their clients. Final thing is I'd prefer if they gave out more than one towel. With a coed bathroom especially, where you need to dry off and change immediately after showering, one towel doesn't really do the trick.

    EXCEED: The Workout

If youve never done HIIT training, and even if you have, this will be a shock to your system. It is high octane non-stop make you wish you didnt have whatever you had for lunch training. No rest. Heart rate stays up the whole time from one movement to the next. James makes it fun though. The staff is very friendly and professional. I do wish the beginning ladder was something more structured rather than everyone going at their own pace while performing the exercises on the board, which were like 12.

Rebecca is the absolute best. Her class is always challenging and fun with a mix of music genres and intervals. Expect it all - hills, sprints, long pushes - she will push you to your max but also understands people are at different skill levels so offers an accessible torque range. She gives precise instructions so you know what's expected of you. She's also soo sweet and friendly! A ride with Rebecca would appeal to anyone. One of Flywheel's best for sure.

I was visiting NYC so I’ve never visited this location or taken a class with Casey before. But it was one of the best Barry’s classes I’ve ever taken. Casey’s instructions were very clear and demonstrated each move/exercise. The treadmill workouts were challenging. Tara is the best. Literally the best motivator, the best teacher and the most "together" instructor there is! The one thing that is frustrating is how the mats and floor aren't ever clean. This was the first class of the day and my mat was filthy. For such an otherwise upscale place this is really strange and this is a recurring issue. They should just have everyone clean their own mats after class if it is too much work to clean between sessions.

    Figure 4 Barre (Open)

Lindsay is without a doubt the best figure 4 instructor - clear, concise directions with a brutal class profile that hits everything. She incorporated the ring today for abs, glutes, and the final pelvic tilt sequencing so our bodies were on fire. Thighs were incredibly challenging and made me shake which rarely happens as an athlete. Highly suggest that you take advantage of their spa like locker room & apartment sized showers. Dana put together really great sequences for gently opening up the body and stimulating circulation. Really appreciated her encouraging energy and inspiring words at the beginning of class. Also loved that the studio has lots of windows that let in great natural light and found the scent of eucalyptus in the air refreshing. This class is good for participants that have experience with barre because its pretty fast paced which is why I love it. Constance is a really good teacher and she gets the rating . However, I could do without the ear ringing . My only suggestion to the studio would be to work on the acoustics or lower the volume because in a beautiful sanctuary space like Pure it just doesnt mix and with Constance running the show isnt even necessary

Great class. Wasn’t a fan the first time I attended his class bc I didn’t sweat enough, but I def sweat a ton today. I wasn’t a fan of the arm workout though. Claudia was great instructor! Really easy going vibes but led us through an awesome flow. Definitely a fast paced flow, but I really felt like I had a good workout. The studio itself is clean, but a bit cramped. The locker room is teeny tiny, barely 4 people can be in there at a time, and there are no lockers or cubbies to store your stuff. CITYROW

Theres not as much instruction / teaching as there normally is but it was still a good workout. First time rowers may need more guidance. The 30s intervals on the tower felt fast but the finisher absolutely destroyed me. Luis cues on breathing and technique helped improve my rowing.

    Hot Vinyasa I/II

This was a great class-- there was only one other student today, so we got lots of thoughtful support and guidance from Aby, who was very warm and knowledgeable. (I've found that, in general, the instructors at Five Pillars do more teaching and provide more personalized support than others.) The studio was bright, clean, relaxing, and just the right temperature.

    Introduction to Ballet

I really enjoyed Nancy’s class. Her instructions are very clear with exercises appropriate for the students’ level but still challenging due to her meticulous attention to proper form. She gives quite a bit of individual corrections which is great for student’s to know what they specifically need to work on.

    Full Body 25

Chic, clean studio. Conscientious and friendly instructor. Workout was very efficient and surprisingly challenging. Great location and workout length for pairing with a run in the park. I ran to class, did the workout, and ran home for a perfect blend of cardio and strength training. Only thing Id suggest is curating a more fun/motivational playlist to support the intensity of the workout. I use music as a mental crutch and had a hard time maintaining my effort with the mellow songs that were on in the background.

    RIPPED ALL OVER

Great class and workout, but you have to have some experience with these types of classes because there is no time for instructor to correct form or focus on anyone, since they are basically running two classes (floor/treadmill split). Would definitely recommend as long as some experience!! Also no locker rooms only restrooms.

Love this class. It changes up every week so you never got bored and constantly challenge yourself. Instructor explains everything and goes around to correct form. I'm sore at the end of every class and feel accomplished!

Michael came in and saved the day bc the substitute teacher didn’t show up. Because the class was 15 minutes late, they provided free smoothies for everyone. Loved that! Thanks for providing a great class + experience even with the negative of starting late Michael was awesome
