About this class

Hatha Yoga is one of the oldest traditions in yoga. Hatha, meaning sun moon, uses the physical postures of yoga to try to bring about a sense of balance and harmony in the body. Just as the sun is warmth and energy, the moon is cool and reflective. Hatha Yoga is a wonderful combination of these opposite energies which include gentle stretches to release tension, postures to align the body and enhance energy flow, breathing techniques to further promote the energy flow of the body and relaxation to settle the nervous system and calm the mind. The goal of this yoga is to bring relief from musculoskeletal problems, teach relaxation and give freedom for the enjoyment of living in ways that are more fully alive. This system uses a broad range of traditional yoga poses each held for medium lengths of time. It is a great starting place for people wanting to discover yoga or for those who enjoy the gentle 'whole-person' benefits.
