About this class

The months of pregnancy are precious. Yoga helps right from the beginning to create a positive environment for the mother and the child she is carrying. Yoga can help prevent problems like excess weight and back pain. Even those who have never practised yoga will soon realize that even the simplest exercises enhance well-being and health. Relaxation, breathing exercises and meditation are a great relief during pregnancy, delivery, and the time afterwards. Yoga lets you tap your inner source of strength and helps you deal better with phases of stress and fatigue. Yoga practice during pregnancy is based on the 12 basic postures. Over the course of the pregnancy, many postures are adjusted or replaced with specific variations. In addition, students learn special poses to prepare them for childbirth. Deep breathing exercises, stretching and relaxation gives an all-round workout to the body and mind, helping not only in a healthy pregnancy, but also a safe delivery. The mother-to-be should ask her doctor before practicing yoga. It is advisable to attend pregnancy yoga classes in addition to practicing at home.

How to prepare

We supply complimentary mats, cushions and blankets. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Please wear modest clothing.

How to get there

Free street parking. Bike racks out front. Two blocks from the L-Taraval Muni train (Get off at 23rd Ave). Four blocks from the #28 Muni bus (Get off at Vicente St). We are located on the SE corner of Vicente St and 23rd Ave.

Prenatal Yoga
Slow-paced and relaxing class that incorporated a few advanced yoga poses, like headstands. There were only two of us in class so the instructor, who was really nice and friendly, was able to give custom attention to form.
