Yoga Nidra at Restore Meditation
About this class
Yoga nidra, also known as yoga sleep, is a guided meditation that has been described as reaching the border between waking and sleeping states, allowing for the body to deeply relax while the mind stays inwardly alert. In this style of yoga, the student rests in shavasana pose (laying on their backs) while the teacher leads them through a guided meditation bringing them through each level of their being: physical, energetic, mental/emotional, higher intelligence, and bliss (called the five koshas). Yoga nidra helps the body and mind to heal, slow the aging process, and prevent illness/disease while supporting you in feeling empowered and whole just as you are. Benefits of yoga nidra include feeling more rested, reduced stress, improved quality of sleep, enhanced concentration and memory, and improved energy levels. It has also been proven to help prevent and reverse numerous ailments, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, respiratory issues, pain, and PTSD. It has even been said that 20 minutes of yoga nidra class is equivalent to three hours of sleep! Props offered for support and relaxation. All yoga and meditation levels welcome!
