About this class

Our Pilates foundation classes are designed for beginners or those returning to Pilates after a long absence. Pilates is based upon an understanding of the muscular and skeletal systems of the human body. The Pilates Teacher uses this information to create a comprehensive exercise programme for the client with the aim of restoring a greater sense of balance. It is this holistic approach that sets Pilates apart from many other forms of exercise. Pilates reshapes the body by targeting and strengthening core muscles which are vital for reducing back pain, releases tension and improves posture and flexibility, returning the body to its natural alignment. It avoids the muscle and ligament damage sometimes associated with other fitness regimes and consequently plays a key role in many injury and rehabilitation programmes. This class is not suitable during pregnancy, however we have many physio led pregnancy and post natal classes on our timetable.

What is ClassPass?
