How it works

About this class

For those who need a mini-retreat but can’t quite get away, yin yoga helps students clear away mental fog. You can expect fewer poses with longer holds, more floor postures, breathing techniques and meditation. This practice is focused on releasing deeply held tension in some of the body’s tightest areas: the lower back, hips and legs. You’ll challenge your ability to stay present and detached as the intensity of each posture continually builds. Class is open to all levels as most of the practice is done on the floor. This open-level class is set to music. Modifications and variations will be offered to tailor the practice to your individual needs.

How to prepare

Bring a yoga mat, water and towel and wear fitted, moisture-wicking exercise clothes. Remember that every single person in class had a first hot yoga class once. Though yoga may seem unfamiliar at first, try to leave your ego at the door and let yourself be a beginner. Yoga is a practice, but every person in the room is there for the same reason: yoga makes us feel better. Every PFY studio offers Warm Vinyasa Basics classes. In these classes, you will break down common vinyasa yoga poses and learn modifications so you feel empowered and safe.
