Yin Yoga & Meditation at Powerflow Yoga
About this class
All forms of yoga can provide benefits physically, emotionally, and mentally, however Yin Yoga works the deeper levels of the body/heart/mind: the connective tissues of the ligaments, fascia, joints and bones and the energetic channels of the meridians, nerves and blood system. The Yin sequence is primarily on the mat and will concentrate on creating flexibility in the hips pelvis and lower spine. As you "ground" your practice there is a delicious impact on the mind. It begins to slow down to the body's rhythm and you experience deep relaxation and inner peace. One big difference noticed by students of Yin Yoga is the long-held, passive nature of the posture, which gives time for a deeper journey to unfold.

How to prepare
Bring a yoga mat, water and towel and wear fitted, moisture-wicking exercise clothes. Remember that every single person in class had a first hot yoga class once. Though yoga may seem unfamiliar at first, try to leave your ego at the door and let yourself be a beginner. Yoga is a practice, but every person in the room is there for the same reason: yoga makes us feel better. Every PFY studio offers Warm Vinyasa Basics classes. In these classes, you will break down common vinyasa yoga poses and learn modifications so you feel empowered and safe.
