About this class
Kaiut Yoga is a restorative practice, focused on functional movement and biomechanical health. It has been designed to work through chronic pain & injuries, general aches & stiffness, and work for the inflexible, hyper-flexible and the aging body. Kaiut Yoga works from the joints. Sequentially progressing through a series of passive and active poses, each held for several minutes, Kaiut Yoga opens restrictions within the major joints of the body – hips, knees, ankles, shoulders, and spine. As such, it has a dramatic impact in countering the harmful effects of modern living (where most of us sit much of the day), as well as the harmful impact to our bodies of overuse (frequent running or cycling), or compensatory movements from old injuries. Safety is emphasized by eliminating inversions and fancy poses, and by focusing on alignment and stability while maintaining and moving between poses. Kaiut Yoga is about maintaining or returning the body to optimal structure and functionality. It’s about freedom of movement, physical system and energy flow. It’s about keeping us as healthy, mobile and pain free as possible for as long as possible. With more freedom of body comes freedom of mind. It’s about a better quality of life. How to prepare
We' re pretty casual at Peace through Yoga. Wear comfortable yoga or exercise clothes. Your instructor will ask you if you have injuries or limitations and may offer alignment cues adjustments to help you gain the most from each pose. You are welcome to use Peace through Yoga's mats, blocks and all other yoga props at no additional charge. If you have your own mat and props, we encourage you to bring them to class.
How to get there
Peace Through Yoga - Speedway is located at: 1032 Main Street Indianapolis, Indiana 46224 They are at the south end of the street between Yogulatte and Charlie Brown's, across from the GoKarting venue. You may park on Main Street in front of our studio, in the lot south of the studio and on the side streets behind the studio at no charge. Their Speedway studio is open on all race and training days except the Indy 500. Please allow extra time on days when events cause closures of some neighboring streets.
