About this class
Precision and understanding of the body are vital in this method. The practice of asanas is considered a starting point of spiritual practice. In this method the use of props (blocks, belts, bolsters, blankets, and so on) are key. These props are used not only to make asanas accessible to everyone, regardless of age or flexibility, but also to challenge students to understand more. What are the benefits of Iyengar yoga? Strengthens and makes the body supple Relieves lower, middle, and upper back pain Reduces stress Helps with concentration Helps with depression, hypertension, and anxiety, among others conditions Who benefits from Iyengar yoga? For all those willing to start down a spiritual path, to improve mind and body health, to more deeply understand the human body through personal experience, and to discover the meaning of yoga, Iyengar yoga will feed those needs. Level I: The class is mainly in a standing pose to create strength, flexibility and increase the stamina of the students with new and more advance standing poses. Forward bends, sitting poses, back bends, twist and inventions. Upside down poses are practiced throughout the class. Level II: To all the work of the previous levels we will introduce abdominal work and arm balances, all the categories of poses are practiced in an advanced level and more new poses are presented giving the students new insights. Pranayama is introduce at this level.
