About this class

Just like our Sunday Sufferfest only a bit shorter so you can fit in some mid-week suffering. We will still ride along with The Sufferfest virtual rides (& using the VismoX) but just because the ride is only 50 min, doesn''t mean it will be any easier. So suck it up, Buttercup & join us for The Sufferfest!

How to prepare

Clients should come ready to sweat! It is recommended to bring a water bottle to fill up at the studio. They will provide towels and filtered water coolers. And don't worry if you forget your water bottle! They sell them at the studio. If you are taking a boxing class with them, they will provide gloves and you can rent wraps for $5 or buy them for $112. For bike classes please bring sneakers or cycling shoes with SPD cleats. We do not rent shoes (see their FAQ for reasons behind this).

How to get there

Their U Street location is conveniently located one block from the U Street/Cardozo Metro Station at 905 U Street, NW. Their Capitol Hill location is less than one block from the Eastern Market Metro Station at 637 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.

Having more soulful music would make this class more attractive. Listening to heavy rock for 45 mins at 6am is hard to swallow. More soul might even attract a more diverse clientele.

Fun coachmusic overpowered a lot of her instruction so I was mostly following screen prompts. Sufferfest and music videos great visual distraction

Needs better description since it is so specific, wouldn't have chosen this had I known
Response from the studio:
Thanks for your feedback! We have very detailed explanations about The Sufferfest rides both on our website on our class descriptions on MBO. It is a specialized class and we are sorry it wasn't what you expected.

Hard work!
BIKE50 VX (SUFFERFEST) with Tammar
Pretty disappointed. Class and machine were not intuitive and I spent majority trying to figure it out.
Response from the studio:
So sorry you felt this way! We do try to explain all the element of the class to make sure it is clear. Sufferfest is a very specific type of class with a focus on The Sufferfest training workout, though Tammar should have been better about explaining that and she'd like to make it up to you -- please email her at

The VX screen power meters and the sufferfest cycling videos did not add to the workout. But, I'll definitely return to the studio for their great bikes. I'm a fairly serious cyclist (e.g. 270 watts is my hourly average/70 kg). I wish they had a class for athletes where we would ride together on the screen seeing real-time the performance of our teammates.
Response from the studio:
Thanks for your feedback! We generally do not support putting up other folks' stats in class or displaying a 'leaderboard' as our riders have all kinds of backgrounds and varying fitness levels and to do so could be discouraging to some. The VX is displaying real time performance of the other riders, but it is displayed in % of FTP or in terms of working zones. However, if you do feed off the competition (as many of us do!), watch for a class called BIKE50 RACE -- this will included head-to-head competition and leader boards.
