Nia™ blends an invigorating cardio workout with global dance forms, martial arts, yoga, creative movement and powerful imagery. Nia is not just a workout or a dance class; it's a life practice that works with the natural wisdom and intelligence of the body, mind, spirit, and emotions. Nia actually teaches you how to move with more awareness, openness, comfort and joy. If you've given up the quest for perfect inner thighs in favor of inner peace; if you strive for oneness instead of thinness; if you want a class focused more on your heart than your heart rate; if a more nurturing, less punishing workout sounds appealing; then Nia is for you! Nia is the ultimate "East meets West" method to tone body, mind and spirit. Nia's barefoot, grounded approach maximizes body efficiency and teaches us to consciously move in a gentler way. The result is a fusion of movement styles that is more free than other cardiovascular exercises. Modern and jazz dance movements are mixed with heart-pumping kicks and blocks as well as subtle therapeutic suggestions and visualization techniques to help develop awareness and heightened sensation. Out goes the credo "no pain, no gain," and in comes the pleasure principle, "If it feels good, do it!" Nia can be done by anyone and is easily adapted to personal needs. It challenges and fulfills the old and young, fit and not-so-fit, dancer and non-dancer alike. It was a very interesting class. Very unique. I didn’t sweat at all. Not much of a workout.

This is a low-intensity movement class filled with awesome ladies and dance music.

Definitely geared toward an older crowd. I was expecting more of a high energy "zumba-like" class with more upbeat music. Doesn't really feel like much of a workout.

This place was awesome! Everyone was so friendly as soon as I walked in the door and the studio looked so nice and clean. I wasn't sure about the Nia class because I am not a dancer at all, but this class was so much fun. I wasn't embarrassed at all to show off my moves. It was empowering. I love the group atmosphere that is created in this class and you can really tell that everyone there loves to be there.

How to prepare

Please bring your own mat for mat-based classes, towel, and water bottle. Pilates, yoga and Nia are done barefoot. Please see the class description for specific class recommendations. If you wear sneakers or dance shoes to class, PLEASE be sure the soles are clean before entering the studio! New Students: New Student Forms are required of all students/clients prior to participating in any activities at MoveStudio. Arrive at least 15 minutes before class starts if you prefer to fill the new student information at the studio.

What is ClassPass?

ClassPass is a new kind of gym membership that grants you access to thousands of different classes at studios and gyms in your city and around the world.

The number of classes you can take and the number of times you can visit a studio per month depends on which plan you're on.
