About this class
Ashtanga is a form of hatha yoga which focuses on asana (posture) and pranayama (breath control.) It is a 5000 year old practice which was updated in the 90′s by Larry Schultz’s Rocket series that he created for the Grateful Dead and is the mother of power yoga. This is a more vigorous class, not suitable for beginners. Vinyasa yoga, in which movement is synchronized to the breath, is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. This style is sometimes also called flow yoga, because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance.
