Class was great! Shaynna is a lively instructor and the music was fire. Front desk person was lovely and helped me get a locker, then there was someone inside the room who helped orient and clip in to the bike. As a total first-timer, I enjoyed it and would recommend to other first-timers. The bike is yours to customize resistance, and everyone is so busy grinding on their bike that no one could possible be looking at or judging you. Great heads-down workout.

Nicole reminds me of an “old school” Soul Cycle instructor in all the best ways (circa 2014– when there was only one DC area Soul Cycle in Foggy Bottom). She stays on her bike for the duration of the ride, she instructs you to use the traditional hand positions when in and out of the saddle, she’s still does “jumps” in class regularly, she’s a big fan of resistance. Her class is more of a good, solid cycling class vs. trying to create a party atmosphere with a lot of yelling, light flashing, off-the-bike theatrics, etc. (Not to say that I don’t appreciate the latter as well… I love the “party” classes as well when I’m in the mood… and that’s the great thing about Soul— there’s choices and variety). All that to say, I’m happy to have Nicole in the line-up and have found myself taking her classes more and more.

Ashleigh is such a positive and passionate instructor. She has really been a great addition to the BDSA studio. She really engages you, corrects your form, and teaches you how to push past your own limits. I love her fun music selections, as they are different from what this studio offers. It is much needed, as there is only so much Taylor Swift and Britney Spears that a girl can handle. I will say this, the front desk can use a little more work with their kindness, the cult like behavior and dramatics can be off putting. They should also do a better job setting the new riders up on their bikes as I am fearful they will sustain injuries. Anywho, just my 0.02 cents! Keep Ashleigh around BDSA, she’s a new instructor with so much potential.

Great class. Allie was welcoming and attentive. I would not call it a Power class, however, because it was a much slower pace than Power, which typically builds to a continuous flow and a one breath per movement type of pace. Wow! What a freakin work out. Take your BCAAs before you go, you’ll need that energy. I loved how intense it was. The studio was well lit, the instructor was great for a first time, though I do recommend doing their intro classes especially if you’ve never taken anything on a reformer. I think the inventor of the reformer would be shocked that this level of intensity has been discovered on the machine — this not for the faint of or for someone looking to ease themselves into moving their body. Stretch after and HYDRATE.

First time at Barre3 was a success! After spending years as a yogi then trying Purebarre, I can confidently say that this class is a perfect blend between the two. I appreciated the addition of mindfulness to the challenging workout. Thank you, Kristen!

Instructor was great. The other people going were very friendly and encouraging (for a first timer). Excited to try their other classes. You decide how hard your want to push yourself, while everyone is doing the same exercise.

Warm and beautiful Friday to be practicing with the class. We had the windows open that was very special. Kate’s instructions were easy to follow and I especially loved that she mentioned it was a full moon last night.
