About this class

The Rocket I class is based on the Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Focused on balance, stability, mobility, surrender and strength, this sequence opens the body from the ground up.  Advanced classes are ideal for the regular practitioner or for those ready to commit to their practice. The pace is demanding and the instruction is less extensive than an All Levels class. You will practice inversions in this class, including handstands and forearm stands.  Each class begins with sun salutations, progresses through a standing sequence building energy for the seated sequence, and closes with the Ashtanga finishing sequence. Familiarity with sun salutations and finishing postures is ideal, but not essential.

How to prepare

Classes at AstaYoga follow a general routine that is vigorous- the more often you practice, the more familiar you will become with the flow. Our Basics classes offer more detailed instruction to get started, but a beginner's attitude is helpful and welcome in every class. The classes are heated to no more than 80 degrees. You will be trained in breathing techniques that stimulate the generation of organic sweat- the sweat you earn. We offer mats for rent ($2) and complimentary towels. Please arrive to class at least 5 minutes early.

I love this studio but this teacher was just bad. There were many questionable things I didnt like. I wish it was Kerrigan teaching instead of him. I came for a rocket class, not here to watch a guy do a bunch of inversions. We didnt even get to do the seated postures.

I really loved the space and plan to come back but found this class uninspired and fractured. The instructor did not identify the poses or sometimes would say only warrior but not specify beyond that. Some people would be doing one thing while others a different thing. I would also ask that more modeling of the poses or sequence occur and adjustments happen. The instructor spent most of the class standing at one end of the room.

this was potentially one of the best yoga classes I have attended. Movements and flow very well described, at the perfect speed to get a good workout but also to enable the learning and growth. the class is full for a reason, Tara taught a great session.

This class was a little too advanced for me at the moment. The instructor needed to give her students modified options for the poses and inversions. There were a few students that were struggling. Other than that i liked the flow and stretches taught.
