How to prepare

Classes at AstaYoga follow a general routine that is vigorous- the more often you practice, the more familiar you will become with the flow. Our Basics classes offer more detailed instruction to get started, but a beginner's attitude is helpful and welcome in every class. The classes are heated to no more than 80 degrees. You will be trained in breathing techniques that stimulate the generation of organic sweat- the sweat you earn. We offer mats for rent ($2) and complimentary towels. Please arrive to class at least 5 minutes early.

This class reminded me of the movie Wanderlust with Paul Rudd, minus the comedy. I cringed every time the teacher said words like cosmic fairy dust, cosmos, and mystical truth. There was awkward devotional chanting, way too much fire breathing, weird western variations of traditional yoga poses, and little physical challenge. Not for me.

"Kundalini" signifies that this class will contain devotional chanting, fire breathing and fairy dust. And though the class lacked comedy, your review certainly brought it. We thank you, and we're sure Paul Rudd is also grateful for the shout-out. Please be sure to try out any of our other vinyasa classes- we only have kundalini once a week- and you will find the physical challenge you seek.
