How to prepare

Classes at AstaYoga follow a general routine that is vigorous- the more often you practice, the more familiar you will become with the flow. Our Basics classes offer more detailed instruction to get started, but a beginner's attitude is helpful and welcome in every class. The classes are heated to no more than 80 degrees. You will be trained in breathing techniques that stimulate the generation of organic sweat- the sweat you earn. We offer mats for rent ($2) and complimentary towels. Please arrive to class at least 5 minutes early.

Ashtanga Primer with Mary
Good for beginners. Lots of tips for using blocks and a good opportunity to go slowly when I was feeling disconnected from my body. I feel refreshed and ready to be challenged again.
Ashtanga Primer with Mary
Mary is wonderful! Great intro to ashtanga and she is very thorough in explaining poses and providing modifications as well. Definitely recommend!
Ashtanga Primer with Lisa
Structure and level of the class was great, instructor could have provided better guidance
Ashtanga Primer with Michael
Great well rounded class.
Ashtanga Primer with Shaina
Excellent class but we didn't need the heat.
Ashtanga Primer with Shaina
Shaina is an excellent teacher! I love her instructions and overall vibe. Awesome class!
Ashtanga Primer with Mila
Mila is an excellent instructor!
Ashtanga Primer with Lisa
Lisa was great, not a class for beginners
Ashtanga Primer with Steve
Class was ok (not great for newbies, I was totally lost at times), but nowhere does it say "bring your own mat" and when I inquired, the response I got was a snarky "well, most people do" and then was charged $2 to rent one. Description should be updated to reflect "what you should bring".
Ashtanga Primer with Tony
Tony was great! He had such a relaxing and calm voice. The class was perfect for a Monday evening. I feel well stretched out and relaxed. Would've appreciated some personal adjustments.
