About this class

POUND is a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with constant simulated drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, isometric movements, plyometrics and Isometric poses. Burn between 400 and 900+ calories per hour, strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles, and drum your way to a leaner, slimmer physique – all while rocking out to your favorite music! Through continual upper body motion using our lightly weighted drumsticks, called Ripstix™, you’ll turn into a calorie-torching drummer, POUNDing off pounds as each song flies by. Class was awesome but wish the music was louder! It was very upbeat though and I liked the instructor. Also the place is very welcoming and inclusive.

This class was immeasurably fun. I had taken a Pound class once before locally, and the teacher was clearly not ready to be teaching that format yet lots of miscues and energy-deflating pauses. But I liked the idea of Pound, so I decided to check out this class. OMG night and day difference. Dakota Fox had all the elements that make for great teaching: energy, confidence, a welcoming and inclusive demeanor, well-timed and clear cues (most through gestures alone not barking over the music), and a lightheartedness that pulled us through the tough spots. She is also cut like a rock, which is not necessary to be a good teacher, but it sure is inspiring. The music was fantastic, the transitions were crisp, and the class flew by. I am a convert to Pound and specifically this instructor. I will definitely return.

My sense was that this instructor was new to teaching, or to teaching Pound. The class was very stop & go, and the instructor seemed unclear about her movement sequences. However, she was very nice and energetic, and we did work up a sweat in a fun way. So I would try her class again in a few months, when she has had more time to iron out the kinks.

I hate leaving bad reviews because I know we all start somewhere, but this should've been a free "practice class" for the first time instructor. I know Pound can be a great workout, but she was very unsure of what she was doing, we took too long of breaks between songs, and I never broke a sweat. Unfortunately, I feel my time and credit were wasted tonight.
