About this class

Certain types of mindfulness practices are excellent for mitigating stress and anxiety. Most often, stress and anxiety is our response to how our minds perceive a situation. In this class, we'll begin by calming our mind and body, then we'll move on to specific evidence based meditation techniques which if practiced enough, will result in new neurological pathways in the brain that give way to calmer states of being. The evidenced based practices we'll use have been studied extensively through UMASS Amherst, UCLA, University of Toronto Scarborough and Oxford University. The class format will be mostly guided with short periods of silence. We’ll wrap up with 5-10 minutes for Q&A.

How to prepare

When to Arrive:Come early as sessions start on time. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes in advance. Settle in with some tea and ease into your meditation experience. What to Wear:Come as you are! The studio suggests wearing something comfortable to sit in, whether jeans, work attire or workout clothes. They ask that you remove your shoes at the door, so please bring socks or feel free to go barefoot.

How to get there

Anchor Meditation holds classes at 2118 Union Street in the Marina. Please drop in to meditate. Classes and workshops are available throughout the week. We also offer private meditations, group sessions, event rental and teacher training.
