*Circle of Women at Ahimsa Yoga Studio
About this class
Women come together in this circle and form a family, a sacred bond of love and support. We praise, we listen, we cry, we laugh, we pass the tissues. We have a daily dose of arrows and curve balls that fly directly at us. We have stories of struggles and survivals. We have worries and questions. But most of all, we have love. In our circle, in our safe and sacred space, we will gather and hold space for one another and for those who need our vibes. We will talk, we will meditate, we will restore, and we will celebrate one another. Please join us for these monthly Sunday afternoons. All who identify as women are welcome to attend. You are encouraged to bring a journal and a pen, we'll supply the tissue. *Suggested donation: $5. We will meet from 2-3:45pm on the following 2019 dates: January 13: Beginnings Feb 10: Go and Love YourSelf - Special Program on this date: When was the last time you had a chance to play? Maybe you watch your children play all the time, they dress up in costumes, sing, dance, act, and we applaud and celebrate them, but what about you? Motherhood is a beautiful experience but sometimes it leaves us feeling disconnected from our former selves. If you feel like you have lost your mojo or connection to your feminine sensuality, this is for you. Come and spend time on just you, listen to what your inner goddess is asking for, learn to accept your body for who you are right now, not who you were or who you want to become. Quiet the negative dialogue and just come and play! Join our special guest, "Derry Eire" as she teaches us about quieting the Negative voice in your head, the one that gives you the dialogue of the following: 'My body doesn't look like it used to before children" "I don't have the desire or energy to feel sensual anymore (whatever that means to someone) 'People only see me as a mom, I am disconnected to who I am as a woman and what I need." And focusing on playing. Really looking at yourself in the mirror, taking time to touch an arm, a leg, your body in a way that you really see yourself. We will spend some time in introductions explaining why playing, experimenting with feathers, stockings, costumes, dancing, singing, finding a song that moves you to move etc is so good for the soul, even if it's just in the privacy of your own home. Hear Derry's story of how she got involved in Burlesque (post-divorce and seeking a safe space to see herself exactly as she is), and some lessons she has learned being one of the older performers, what the community has taught her and the importance of asking for what you need. SUGGESTED PROPS: Please bring a zip front hoodie or men's oversized button down shirt. Dress in something comfortable or something that makes you feel good, thigh highs, shorts etc. Derry will provide the rest of the props! March 10: Renew Your Soul "A circle of women may be the most powerful force known to humanity. If you have one, embrace it. If you need one, seek it. If you find one, for the love of all that is good & holy, Dive in. Hold on. Love it up. Get naked. Let them see you. Let them hold you. Let your reluctant tears fall. Let yourself rise fierce and love great. You will be changed. The very fabric of your Being Will be altered by this. If you allow it. Please, Allow it." ~ Author Unknown
