About this class

Support 889's Yoga Teacher Training Graduates in our pop-up By-Donation Community classes! Join Jermaine Stennett every Monday evening from Jan 28th to Feb 25th for Chakra Yin. This cozy, candlelit class combines yin yoga, a passive practice that stimulates energy lines in the subtle body while stretching soft tissues in the physical body, with the chakras, the seven primary energy centres in the subtle body. Students will move through a series of both indulgent and challenging yin shapes intended to help open or balance the chakras as they open and stretch the body. The power of visualizations, affirmations and chakra themed healing music will also be used to encourage this beautiful energetic and physical unfolding. A lover and practitioner of yoga for over 15 years, Jermaine has just graduated from 889's Yoga Teacher Training program, and she completed yin and chair yoga Teacher Trainings last Spring. Her calm nature draws her to the slower and gentler styles of yoga, and her warm personality creates a nurturing space for students seeking to bring balance to their more active yoga practice or life overall. Jermaine currently teaches chair yoga in a corporate setting, where she inspires her students to slow down, tune in and notice what comes up. Donations will go to Interval House. It is the first centre for abused women and children in Canada. They are leaders in the campaign for women’s empowerment, providing innovative, specialized services that help women survivors of intimate partner violence and their children transform their lives and break the cycle of abuse.  All levels welcome. You do not need to attend all four classes, drop-in to any of the four sessions.
