Meditating is far more than slow breathing and calming music. It\u2019s active\u2014it requires you to engage all five of your senses while you connect with your mind, body and spirit. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sure, that sounds great in theory, but it\u2019s actually extremely difficult to put into practice (seriously, take our word for it). To enrich your meditation experience\u2014and make it a staple in your daily routine\u2014try focusing on your five senses (sight, sound, smell, touch and taste) while you get your om on. Better yet, create the ultimate meditation studio of your own to awaken your senses.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n[sc name=&#8221;saveupto70off&#8221; ]\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Sight<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Surround yourself with cool shades of blue to create a relaxing, meditation-friendly atmosphere. \u201cThere\u2019s something in the color blue that triggers a relaxation response,\u201d Leatrice Eiseman of Pantone told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/09\/09\/best-color-relaxing_n_3895237.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">House Beautiful<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cEverything about it speaks of a gentle, tranquil, Zen state of mind.\u201d While blue paint will do the trick, you can also decorate your space with blue or cool-toned curtains, pillows, blankets or colored lights. However, avoid the color red at all costs. A study from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cornerstone.lib.mnsu.edu\/cgi\/viewcontent.cgi?referer=https:\/\/www.google.com\/&amp;httpsredir=1&amp;article=1172&amp;context=jur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Minnesota State University<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> found that the color red significantly increases stress levels. Oof. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Smell<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can finally justify your crazy candle collection. Anything that emits fragrance\u2014incense, oil diffusers or oil burners\u2014will come in handy. It\u2019s best to use <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doterra.com\/US\/en\/blog\/spotlight-lavender-oil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lavender <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or jasmine scents because they have calming properties that reduce emotional stress. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doterra.com\/US\/en\/p\/doterra-jasmine-touch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jasmine<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in particular, is often used as an antidepressant because of its confidence-boosting capabilities\u2014a must-have for meditation. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Sound<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Everyone has a different meditation style. Some people prefer silence. Others like listening to music. However, a cup of herbal tea may do wonders. Jasmine tea is your best bet. Why? The same reason it\u2019s a great smell to keep in your space\u2014it is extremely calming. Chamomile, peppermint and green tea have similar benefits. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Touch <\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meditation feels foreign to many people, especially when they\u2019re starting out. Make your space comfortable by incorporating textures that provide you with warmth and reassurance. Rugs, pillows, blankets and cushions will do just that. Being uncomfortable while meditating will make the experience less beneficial, which is why many people rely on a meditation cushion for extra support. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>It\u2019s simple:<\/strong> The more you meditate, the better you\u2019ll be. Whatever you do, find what works best for you.
