If you’re anything like us, you start your day with a steamy shower, go to work and then shower again after your evening class. It becomes a habit and also a necessity because..well…we all want to be clean. Experts are now weighing in to say that we might want to rethink that second shower.
Obviously infrequent showers can result in poor personal hygiene, but we’re pretty sure that no one ever thought taking too many showers could be a bad thing.
“There’s compelling indirect evidence to suggest that showering damages the microbiome on your skin, which in turn damages your skin health,” Rafi Letzter reported for Business Insider.
So what exactly is the human microbiome? Business Insider defines it as, “The collection of bacteria, archaea, viruses, and other microbes that live in and on your body. We know that these little foreign critters are deeply important to your health. Without them, your immune system, digestion, and even your heart would lose function or fail entirely. ”
Moral of the story: try to be more strategic with your showering and stock up on your favorite dry shampoo.
