The Latest Wellness Craze Comes From The Cannabis Plant

There are always new wellness trends popping up all over the place, and while many fizzle out pretty quickly, this one seems like it’s here to stay. CBD oil is derived from the cannabis plant,  but contrary to what many believe, it won’t get you high.

CBD is short for cannabidiol, and while it’s easy to confuse with THC, which will get you high, this does not. It’s being used in so many new wellness products and creating lots of attention because of it’s ability to lessen anxiety for people who have schizophrenia or psychosis, or who are addicted to opiates. In addition, there’s also evidence it can help children who suffer from epilepsy. And lastly, because of its anti-inflammatory properties, CBD could even help treat acne.

How is it used? CBD can be taken orally or applied topically—which is where we are seeing it pop up more and more in the beauty aisle. Yup, many beauty brands are including this in many of their salves and oils.

Keep in mind though, it’s still not approved by the Food and Drug Administration and laws for use depend on the state where you live.
