When this book made it onto my desk I thought, “Wow. Could this be anymore ClassPass?!” Fitness Junkie is a parody about the latest fitness trends. While it certainly strays from reality quite a bit, it kept us laughing the whole time.

Who Would Love This Book:
ClassPass fanatics, fitness lovers and anyone who could use a good laugh.
Synopsis in 140 characters or less:
Janey Sweet gets ousted from her company by her partner and BFF. To get her life back on track, she hits the NYC fitness scene… hard!
Why You Should Read It:
Janey Sweet is the co-owner of a wedding dress company with her best friend Beau. After being photographed in a tabloid eating a bruffin (the hot new dessert —a cross between a brioche and a muffin), Beau said that Janey was bad for the brand image and threw her out of the company. Janey, pissed off and unemployed, throws herself into the boutique fitness scene to try and please Beau and lose some weight. I know what you’re thinking. Who is this Beau character and why is Janey listening to him?! Don’t stress, Janey will eventually see the light.
As a ClassPass member (and employee) it’s no secret that I love fitness. I have fully embraced the boutique fitness lifestyle and all that comes with it. This story is a parody of this lifestyle and it was fun to watch art imitate life—to the extreme. Janey tries a bunch of different fitness classes, meets a shaman, gets addicted to a new class called “The Workout” and starts attending fitness retreats on private islands. While the story gets more and more ridiculous, I found it to be more and more entertaining. This book kept me laughing the whole time that will make you want to grab this book and head to a yoga class!
