ClassPass Book Of the Week: For Those Who Think About the Apocalypse

Picture this: you’re thinking about what you should read next. Should you pick up a young adult book and follow the love story of some teenagers? Or should you go the horror route and read about the zombie apocalypse? Well, with this book you don’t have to choose. Believe it or not, those two things are exactly the premise for today’s book of the week! This book had been on my list since 2011 when it was first published and I finally got the chance to combine my love of zombies and romance.

Warm Bodies

Author: Isaac Marion
Genre: Horror
GoodReads Rating: 3.94
My Rating: 3.5

Who Would Love This Book:

You love zombie novels but you also love young adult fiction.

Synopsis in 140 characters or less:

People-eating zombie with limited speech meets a living, breathing girl and starts to feel alive again. Could their love save the world?

Why You Should Read It:

The book starts out like any other zombie book where the zombies grunt a lot, wander aimlessly and, of course, eat humans. The zombies can’t remember anything about their pasts including even their names so we call the main character “R.” On a hunt for food (A.K.A. people) R sees a girl, Julie, and everything begins to change. He’s acting strange and start feeling different and not just in an “I’ve got a crush on a girl” kind of way.

I promise this is more than just a silly love story.

What happens next has effects on the whole post-cursed world for both the living and the undead. The good news is, if you read the book and love it, there’s more! Not only was this book turned into a movie back in 2013 but there are also two more books in the series by Marion.
