10 Active Fall Dates to Try This Fall

We’re finally moving into cooler weather, so now is the perfect time to make your dates a little more active. Get outside and enjoy the gorgeous fall air, or keep busy indoors with these 10 active fall date ideas.

Take a hike, and bring a picnic

Gorgeous hikes may be the quintessential fall date. For a fun and inexpensive date, combine your leaf peeping with a hike to a scenic outlook and pack a lunch.  Nothing says romance like a plaid picnic blanket and a thermos of hot chocolate!

Go apple picking

If pumpkin is fall’s star quarterback, apple is its homecoming queen. Get in the spirit of the season and head to an apple orchard to pick a bunch of your own bounty. Cozy up on a hayride with some warm apple cider, then make some apple pie oatmeal or festive and healthy game-day snacks.

Run a race together

Fall’s cooler temperatures bring loads of road-race opportunities. Sign up for a 5K (or something longer!) with your main squeeze, and experience the thrill of competition and the rush of endorphins together. Psst: You can get a whole bunch of active dates out of this one if you do your training runs together. ClassPass is now offering races in some cities—check out the Tough Mudder SoCal or TriState and the Color Run Hudson Valley, Ventura or Huntington.

Take a bike ride

Check out all the colorful foliage your city has to offer with a bike ride. You can pick a brunch spot several miles away from your starting point as your goal, and treat yourself to mimosas or avocado toast before your ride back.

Take a walking tour of your city

Many cities have free walking tours—you may have even taken one while traveling—but did you ever think of exploring your own city on foot? Stretch your legs and learn about your own backyard on this fun and free date.

Try rock climbing

Nothing bonds people like overcoming fears together, so take your sweetie to the climbing gym and conquer some boulders. Remember to wear tight-fitting clothing to avoid a “flash from above” moment.

Visit a corn maze

If you’ve never been to a corn maze, you’re missing out. They’re a cross between a haunted house and an outdoor obstacle course, but your obstacles are your own sense of direction and scythe-wielding ghouls. For an outdoor walk with an adrenaline rush, check out your local corn maze.

Fly kites

This kid’s activity is great for adults, too. Purchase a kite at your local drugstore or sporting goods store, and take it to the park on a windy day for a fun outdoor date. For a bit of healthy competition, see who can keep their kite aloft the longest.

Try a dance class

Ever wanted to master the tango or salsa? No time like the present! Sign up for dance lessons with your significant other to guarantee some quality time and learn a new skill while you’re at it. ClassPass offers dance classes in all of our cities, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and London.

As we move towards Thanksgiving and the holiday season, giving back may be on your mind. Why not to start early? ClassPass now offers volunteer opportunities: Check out fun outdoor options like Friends of the Urban Forest in San Francisco and Don’t Walk By in Manhattan, or take it inside and give back at StreetSquash or L.A. Works.
