ClassPass Book Of the Week: If You’ve Seen This On Netflix

Paul Rudd and Selena Gomez teamed up for a new Netflix movie called The Fundamentals of Caring. You may have seen it come up in your recommendations or you may have already watched it! However, did you know that this film was based on a book from 2012? As a personal preference, I always read a book before I see the movie adaptation so I’m hoping you do the same!

The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving

Author: Jonathan Evison
Genre: Fiction
GoodReads Rating: 3.78
My Rating: 3.9

Who Would Love This Book:

If you can’t decide whether to read a drama or a comedy.

Synopsis in 140 characters or less:

We’re not lying when we say you’ll laugh, you’ll cry as your read this book. The novel is both emotionally charged and pretty hilarious.

Why You Should Read It:

This book covers some pretty serious topics. The main characters in this book have either suffered from disease, personal tragedy, family drama or something else tough. Sounds depressing right?

WRONG.

It’s not easy to cover topics like these with some humor but Evison really nails it. You never feel uncomfortable and you get to know the characters beyond these setbacks. The tragedy doesn’t define who they are. The book takes place during a road trip, so I hope you enjoy the ride.
