From Payal: Why I’m So Excited For 2016

How is 2016 shaping up, everyone? My family and I just returned from an amazing trip to Australia, which happens to be the latest country ClassPass has launched in, bringing us to a total of 36 markets. This time last year, we were only in 20!

Being in Australia, visiting the studios and connecting with members there gave me a chance to reflect on all that happened in 2015—and what’s to come. It’s been so exciting to see so many of you become an engaged part of our growing community.

I remember the moment I realized ClassPass was taking off. I was in the elevator of my apartment building in New York, when two girls walked in. One asked the other if she had heard of this ‘new thing called ClassPass’, and proceeded to gush about how much she was loving it and all the new classes she was trying.

I couldn’t help but smile as I thought to myself: Wow, we’re onto something.

Now, you’ve booked more than 12 million reservations to date at thousands of studios across the world. I can’t tell you how inspiring it is to know how many hours of your life you’ve chosen to spend actively. Each of those hours is a moment you’ve set aside for yourself to try something new, challenge your body and mind, and be actively present in your life. I’ve heard so many incredible stories from our members about how ClassPass has shaped their lives, and personally, I’ve been lucky to witness one person’s transformation firsthand:

My sister’s.

My sister had her second son in early 2014, and even though ClassPass had been in the market for a while, she hadn’t given it a chance. She gave me so many excuses: “I have two kids, I don’t have time,” “I don’t think I’ll find classes near me,” “I like my spin class at my gym so why change anything?”

Finally, after plenty of convincing, she decided to sign up and see what the hype was about. It didn’t take long for her to fall in love. After taking more than 100 classes on ClassPass – from barre to Pilates to boxing – my sister is officially converted. She’s even rivaling me as the active queen!

It’s been incredibly rewarding and motivating watching her energy level spike with her boys, and seeing her carve out time in her life for her mind and body. In the midst of our busy lives, it is so important that we make time for ourselves, even if for just an hour during class.

I’ve heard stories like my sister’s from so many of our members, and it fills my heart every single time. Every class you take is a moment of action that moves you toward change and happiness. While I want to thank you for being part of ClassPass for however long you’ve been a member, I also hope you thank yourself for all of the positive, impactful choices you’re making in your life.

So what’s ahead in 2016?

We’ve been listening to your feedback—good and bad—and we’re working on a number of enhancements and updates to the product, including an improved dashboard, easier bookings, new versions of both the iOS and Android app, and ways to tailor your membership for an even more personalized experience.

I know you’re going to love what we have in store for you in the months to come, so get ready! I’m excited to share a shiny new year with all of you.
