8 Popcorn Recipes That Are Good For You (Seriously)

We’re tempted to celebrate National Popcorn Day by tasting every single one…

It’s salty, it’s buttery, and it’s been a part of nearly every movie night and sleepover you’ve ever attended. After all that popcorn has done for us, it’s absolutely necessary we celebrate it on National Popcorn Day by treating ourselves to a bowlful. But forget the usual kettle versus butter debate: These unique (and healthy!) recipes will make you never want to revert to plain ol’ microwave popcorn again.

Here are six DIY recipes you need to start popping ASAP:

Caramel Popcorn

Nothing beats the sugary, sticky goodness of the classic caramel corn, but this recipe comes pretty darn close. Made of only three ingredients, this caramel-esque popcorn recipe is healthy to eat and easy to make.
Ingredients: Almond or peanut butter, honey and popcorn.

Vanilla Almond Popcorn

Popcorn is a fan fave when it comes to snacking, but how many times have you enjoyed a whole bowlful only to feel hungry again an hour later? Try this recipe during your next movie marathon. The protein in the almonds will keep you full the entire time (yes, even during the extra-long documentary your S.O. picked out).
Ingredients: Coconut oil, dates, vanilla extract, almonds and popcorn.

Lemony Kale Popcorn

Okay, we know what you’re thinking: Kale? In popcorn? But setting all weirdness aside, we promise this is super tasty. Plus, what better way to get in your daily dose of greens than in a bowl of your favorite snack?
Ingredients: Kale, grapeseed oil, sea salt, lemon zest and popcorn.

Coconut Oil Popcorn

Seriously, coconut oil can be used for anything these days, and we’re certainly not complaining. This savory twist on your favorite snack requires a few simple ingredients and tastes just as good as it is for you.
Ingredients: Coconut oil, sea salt, seasoned salt, lemon pepper, and popcorn.

Chocolate Popcorn

This chocolate popcorn recipe is the perfect way to satisfy your sweet and salty craving in just one bite. What’s even better is that it only takes five minutes to whip up!
Ingredients: Cocoa powder, coconut sugar, sea salt, coconut oil cooking spray and popcorn.

Mint Chocolate Chip Popcorn

Next time you’re hosting the weekly Bachelorette viewing party, wow your guests with a snack they won’t believe is 100% vegan and not loaded with tons of indecipherable ingredients.
