3 Ways to Actually Believe Your Body is Awesome

One of my favorite things about the New Year is that it feels like a fresh start where I can set myself some goals and conquer them.

In the past, I would set myself unrealistic goals – ya know, something like “Get a six pack!”- but over time I’ve realized that these aren’t goals, these are silly fantasies that don’t matter in the long run. Will getting a six pack really make me feel my happiest and most confident? Will I truly be healthy and happy? Probably not. So, this year, I’m making myself some goals for my own personal growth. The kind of goals that will aid in my happiness, my health and that will enrich my life!

This year, I’ve set myself three big goals that I hope to work on over the course of the year.

 

No More Body Checking.

I have a habit of checking out my body when I’m near a mirror at any time of the day. This is a horrible habit that can automatically shift my mood for the rest of the day. I’m not going to love what I see every single time and I’m not going to look my absolute best every minute of the day. Sometimes, I’m bloated. Sometimes I’m tired or stressed. But it’s okay – no one is meant to be perfect 100 percent of the time, and honestly, no one ever is!

 

More Yoga and Stretching.

I don’t stretch enough for all the heavy weight lifting that I do! I need to start doing a yoga class every week as well as stretch after every workout and foam roll at least three times a week. I’ve set a realistic schedule and I am ready to get going. This will help me see all of the amazing ways my body can work, even if I’m not sweating like crazy in a tough spin class. I must value my body for everything it can do, even if it seems small.

 

Inspiring Others.

I’ve been a nutrition and fitness coach for a couple of years now, and I absolutely love watching my clients transform their bodies, their mindsets and their lives. I help women create a lifestyle that isn’t revolved around diets, restrictions or rules. I want to grow my client base and continue to teach women that you don’t need to eat a restricted diet or do hours of cardio to get the lean and toned body that you want. By helping others, I will help myself.

So, that’s it! I’m not setting a ton of goals for the New Year and you shouldn’t too. Pick a few goals that truly mean a lot to you and focus on taking the steps to achieve them! 2015 is going to be a healthy, happy and fit year!
