5 Tricks to Actually Make it to Class After Work (You Can Do It!)

We know, we know. It’s the end of a busy day at the office and the last thing that you want to do is head to class. You dream of your Netflix queue, that bottle of red wine that’s calling your name and you think, ‘Ah, it’s okay! I’ll go tomorrow!”

It happens to the best of us. But if you want to kick the bailing habit for good -try these tips to ensure you make it to class. (We promise you will feel amazing after you go!)

Pack your fave outfit the night before
When you’re rushing to get ready in the A.M., it’s stressful to also figure out what you’ll change into after 5 p.m. Instead, pack your cutest leggings and colorful kicks before bed, so you can just grab-and-go in the A.M. Then, for extra motivation, get changed before leaving work. Once you change, you’ll definitely be less likely to hit up your couch.

Make an afternoon playlist to pump you up
Just like great music can help you get through a tough workout, a good afternoon playlist can get you excited for an evening workout! Pick songs that get your dancing at your desk, so at the end of the day you’re itching to leave work to really start moving.

Start your warm-up early
In the last few hours of the day, make a point to get away from your desk every hour to keep your energy level up. Take the long way to the printer or go chat with a co-worker rather than emailing. Consider it your warm up for your evening workout. Sneak in a few overhead stretches and shoulder rolls to keep your upper body energized too.

Plan an afternoon snack
Just like morning sweat sessions – you don’t want to head to an evening class hungry. A little snack will help to get your mind off dinner and back on making it to an awesome workout. Choose a light snack with easily digestible carbs and some protein to keep you full and give you a boost of energy to make it through the rest of the day. Try an apple with two tablespoons of reduced-fat peanut butter or a Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate and Protein KIND bar.

Get your friends in on the fun!
There’s strength in numbers! You will be less likely to cancel your workout plans when someone else is counting on you to show up. And as an added bonus – studies suggest that you are more likely to train harder when working out with friends.
